(a few days behind) "Cream cheese" Hubigs's #kingcake. Almost zero cream cheese. Still dry and sad.

Matherne's raspberry filled #kingcake. Very thin bread, high gloop factor. Filling reminiscent of a very tangy jelly donut, crunchy sugar over the icing.

Gracious bakery's nectar #kingcake. Somewhat thin and light bread with nice texture for a dense feel. My specific piece was a little lacking on the nectar, I should've picked from the other end.

In my top three must-buy every year is the Tartine #kingcake. Sublime cream cheese with cinnamon, French magic, butter, and who even knows what. This sucker is DENSE and RICH. #crumbshot

Shocked at how delicious this galette des reines is from Levee Baking Co. (As mentioned, not a #kingcake.) Pecan and satsuma filling, and holy hell it's good. Would get again. #crumbshot

Another galette des rois, this one from Celtica in Lakeview. (Not a #kingcake; this is unquestionably pastry and not bread.) Rather exquisite amount of buttery flakiness and definitely superior frangipane. Pretty crumbly and I wanted milk.

New-to-me almond Dong Phuong #kingcake. Almost a cream-of-almond filling, nothing like wedding cake. On point as a Dong Phuong, up your alley if you dig almonds.

The #kingcake from Winn-Dixie is not offensive. Still a grocery store King Cake, but better than I expected.

The Hubigs's #kingcake is a letdown. Dry, very little cream cheese to be found, feels too bready and akin to a dinner roll. In the vein of McKenzie's. I hope they adjust the recipe. Would not get again.

FOURTH #kingcake of the day is Dong Phuong's coconut. Lucked out here, as this is my favorite Dong Phuong and I don't often get it. This is such a fascinating trip in baking lineages to get here. Also, there's some sliced almond in the coconut, which I don't remember.

Second #kingcake of the day is the INIMITABLE Uncle Gene's G.O.A.T.: fig, honey, walnut, and goat cheese. Super amazing blend and the bread truly has flavor.
