Reminder: If you recently had covid, the recommendation is that you not exercise for at least 6-8 weeks--even if your symptoms were mild--to not put more stress on your body, which could lead to Long COVID. Conserve your energy as much as you can.
The shame discourse around covid is pissing me off. Do you want me to beg you to wear a mask? Do you want me to sit you down with some milk and cookies and hold your hand while I walk you through the science? Do you want a massage with that?
Research for treatments takes time. Masks can go on faces instantly. I was called "authoritarian" for simply asking why leftists don't wear masks in an ongoing pandemic. Covid "militancy" around masking is not a thing. Nobody goes around beating ppl up and pulling masks over
"Why are they so mean and angry??"
Disabled people are angry because we were told we're expendable, that we'd fall by the wayside and that's just the way it is.
And people said, "Ok! Let's party!"
Is somebody gonna match my freak?*
(*Being concerned and doing my best to take precautions against mpox, sars2, h5n1, and whatever other virsues come along)
If everyone masked for a few months we could shut down so many potential vectors of transmission. Save so many lives. Prevent so much suffering.
That'll never happen, but some of us are trying to make a dent.
Y’all expect people to mask for *checks notes* forever? Like I was so down for wearing masks in class so that I could have in person class but some of y’all just go super comfortable with there being a lot of rules. If a friend of mine wants to mask up and wants me to mask
PSA: You can get covid outside! Keep your mask on around people outdoors. I've heard of a bunch of covid cautious people unmasking outdoors lately and catching it from people they know.
Hearing about students in epidemiology and public health classes not knowing that COVID is ongoing is so discouraging because they're supposed to be the ones that ideally we'd count on when a future pandemic hits.
#YallMasking
? I sure am. 3.5 years of Long COVID has taught me plenty about why to avoid catching COVID. I don't want my health to get any worse and I don't want to spread the virus to others. It's an easy and important way to practice community care.
One thing I'm not gonna wanna hear when people get through their denial is "Why didn't you tell me?!"
I did. We did. You ignored our many warnings and went back to normal.
If you were eating outdoors and someone was smoking nearby and the smoke wafted toward you and made you cough and covid moves through the air like smoke...
If you're truly serious about collective liberation, then I need you to wear a mask regularly. The collective includes the disabled. To exclude the disabled is to exclude a large group of people. A group that anyone can end up in at any time. 1/
"The mask hyperfocus is unfortunate."
Nah. The mask abandonment is unfortunate, to put it mildly. Ultimately, masking is a small sacrifice in order to survive. As mask bans continue growing in popularity, people should feel free to keep their antimask sentiments to themselves.
One of the most honest responses: I just want to live normally.
Living normally during climate collapse will be a bit of a challenge. Not looking forward to how people behave as things get worse.
PSA: When ppl are talking about HOCl (that's a lowercase L not a capital i at the end) to disinfect against sars2, mpxv, bacteria on veggies, etc. it's hypochlorous acid. NOT hydrochloric acid. Two different things!!
The path most people are on right now is unsustainable. Listen to disabled people. You don't have to get sick constantly. Eventually the damage will add up to something that can't be ignored any longer. Start protecting yourself and others now.
I know 2 months is a long time, but it's better than risking the possibility of X number of years where you might not have the energy to do much of anything, much less exercise.
strangers' faces. In fact it's been the opposite where ppl have been peer pressured, harassed, coughed at, ridiculed, threatened, and now ARRESTED for wearing masks to protect themselves while going about their daily lives.
I'm fuckin tired. I've had Long COVID for 3 1/2 fucking years. Everyone alive is at risk. Things are getting worse. What will it take for you to recognize that and do something about it?
I know this is easier said than done and will sound unrealistic to many and will especially be a challenge for people with jobs that have them on their feet a lot (server, retail, yoga teacher, etc.), but as much as possible try to modify it or phone it in to a lower level that
Don't want to listen. If people won't even agree to start a conversation, how do you get them to listen to you? I've tried to protect my family and friends, but I'm the asshole weirdo who's "OBSESSED with covid." I'm the expendable friend. My own best friend forgot I had LC.
1 in 54 people in the U.S. currently infected with covid and this woman I went to high school with is taking her 3-month-old baby to an art museum and going out to dinner like nothing's remotely wrong.
I've tried calm, compassionate talks. Repeatedly. For years. I've scheduled them. Tried to work with people, cater to them. And then last year my fatigue got much worse and I burned out on it. My body literally can't generate the energy to educate people, especially when they
You ever think about how beautiful this planet is and how amazing people can be sometimes and get sad cuz it could always be like that and everyone could enjoy it, but the ruling class has turned us against each other and poisoned the world?
over 3.5 years. No party is worth losing memories of my life or damaging my executive function. Masks are easy to use, easier to transport and distribute than other mitigations like air purifiers. Plus, they're a symbol. Of courage and reason. Of caring about community.
My friend is looking for suggestions for this lingering covid infection. They've been using mouthwash, covixyl, vitamins b and d, metformin, and budesonide. They also have MCAS, POTS, and LC already. They took molnupiravir and metformin earlier in the infection.
David Lynch fans, he is at high risk of dying from covid. Will you do nothing to make the world a safer place for him and for everyone else?
Vaccines aren't enough. They don't stop transmission. But high quality masks do.
David Lynch says he can no longer direct in-person due to his health.
“I've gotten emphysema from smoking for so long, & so I'm homebound whether I like it or not. I can't go out... because of COVID, it would be very bad for me to get sick”

I'm all for research to understand the virus and its many damaging effects. I'm also very much pro-vaccine and I've been fortunate enough to get them, most recently Novavax. I love the Swiss cheese model. I employ as various mitigations regularly. I've also had Long COVID for
The covid denialist responses are so boring. "I advise you to seek help." "Get a psychiatrist!" "You're a mentally ill loser!" "Did you get the jab??" "You're a conspiracy theorist!"
Be original with your denialism. Switch it up.
Amazing that ppl won't even entertain the possibility of a pandemic still happening or that respirators work when worn correctly. Even ppl who otherwise don't trust the U.S. government. No curiosity. No critical thinking. No pondering a hypothetical. Just certainty about lies.
(1/2) A new pandemic risk assessment found that the virus that caused H5N1 bird flu in a person in Texas poses a “moderate” pandemic potential, which is similar to previously assessed H5N1 clade 2.3.4.4b viruses
@emoticatedlies
The vaccines help during the acute phase of an infection. They don't do much to prevent long-term complications. Sounds like you don't have enough data for a real risk assessment.
If masking is useless, then shoes are useless. They don't protect your feet. Might as well just walk on broken glass and hot pavement and dog shit to toughen your feet.
@justbang_bang
This shouldn't be used instead of a mask. If anything it could be in addition to a mask. I wouldn't risk being around ppl without a mask especially since we're in a massive surge getting bigger every day and there's extra covid in the air.
@MariusMioc
TRUE leftists would learn the science and understand that doing nothing to stop a brain damaging airborne virus easily transmitted from person to person doesn't protect bodily autonomy.
Hello screenwriters!
In an effort to take my work to the next level and to get to know more of you and read your work, I'm thinking of starting a new writing group. One focused on accountability and consistency.
Anyone interested?
"You're so angry."
Why is that a bad thing? Anger can be a result of empathy. Anger can lead to action to help oneself and others. You're not okay with anger cuz it's good vibes only for you.
Hey, let's remove fire sprinkler systems from all buildings cuz fire makes the skin strong and fire suppression is for the weak. Besides fire is natural, so it's good for you! It's litty!
made eye contact in the office bathroom mirror while washing my hands as the man went straight to the door from the urinal so then he pivots to the sink and said “guess we’re still doing all that even after covid haha”
@0xchenyuling
Really? Conservatives calling for lockdowns? Sounds unlikely.
Also covid hasn't gotten any less dangerous and long covid is not that manageable for many people. And people die from long covid.
I need you to realize or remember that disease is a weapon of the colonizer. A weapon that has been wielded for centuries. And I need you to fight it. By wearing a mask. Even if your friends and family and your doctor don't wear masks. Especially if they don't. 3/
Meanwhile, the virus has been spreading mostly unchecked, disabling and killing MILLIONS. And we're just supposed to sit quietly like kindling on a pyre to worship the gods of capitalism?
"Masks don't work and you know it! You're just virtue signaling for attention! Seek help!"
If I wanted attention I wouldn't talk about masks. I would just post thirst traps.
@RosseZekey
Ohmygod! 😆 You have it completely backwards. Masks work. And telling people covid is harmless is like telling people that cigarettes don't cause cancer.
@ADHDeeez
You didn't mind masking for general safety as in the safety of other people in the community? And then you listened to a fairytale about strengthening the immune system by catching viruses, stopped masking, and went with that?
"We have the tools."
A lot of people don't have access to most covid mitigations. Sick, vulnerable people are denied Paxlovid. Nosocomial infections happen constantly while HCWs refuse to mask for a few minutes & laugh at immunocompromised people asking for simple precautions.
If you believe in climate collapse, if you know the government is lying about the genocide in Palestine, if you see fascism spreading and want to stop it in its tracks, then I need you to see that the pandemic is ongoing. That anyone with a pulse can be dropped by the wayside. 2/
Honestly tragic that people who claim to be against fascism are helping the colonizer do the job for them. Not only are you abandoning disabled ppl, you're abandoning your own health. Maybe the first 5 infections haven't led to long covid, but maybe they have and you're ignoring
I need you to fight mask bans and advocate for mitigations in public spaces like hospitals, grocery stores, and pharmacies, and so many more. Everyone should be able to safely access public spaces. I need you to fight the stigma and the misinformation against masks. 4/
@uberbikegeek
The data has been downplayed and presented to look like that. But it's nowhere akin to a common cold. Eventually an infection will let your body know that.

Covid gets exhaled in CO2. If people were smoking outside and that smoke drifted your way, you'd inhale it. In a large crowd of people during a surge people are exhaling viral particles in close proximity to many others.
You have heard that sars2 can lead to cognitive dysfunction, cancers, strokes, heart attacks, kidney & stomach problems & problems with all organs, bone density loss, tooth loss, hair loss, psych issues, etc. etc., correct? It's a long list.
If you haven't seen a tongue resected, a cheek removed, surgical extraction of infected teeth, or cleaned the tracheotomy of an oral cancer patient, don't argue.
