I feel sorry for those who aren't old enough to have seen the likes of Zidane, Figo, Platini, Gazza, Hoddle, Hagi, Laudrup, Gullit, Van Basten, Maldini play. Modern football doesn't have players like these anymore.
Eric Dier was a mainstay in what has been our most successful period in the Premier league era. He's also conducted himself with class this season, despite very limited game time. Deserves huge respect from the fan base and not the abuse some of you choose to dish out.
100% at home. Already played 5 away, including 3 London Derbies and an in form Brighton and we're 3rd. Just 3pts off city. Have to be happy with that surely?
Spurs, villa, Brighton, 3 clubs that instantly prove FFP isn't designed to create a cartel at the top. These sides have all progressed with sound business models, matched with good recruitment.
I love Poch and what he did was remarkable. So many great memories and spurs were a joy to watch. But I do want Conte here next season, backed in the summer, full preseason and next year will be great for spurs
Spurs and Conte may as well part company now. The relationship isn't suited. He is an elite manager and has always been at clubs who match his ambition to compete at the highest level, that's not spurs. Spurs under enic will never be real challengers, the odd flash but that's it
£200m, £300m, doesn't matter. If you're a spurs fan you don't want to sell Kane. Nothing about selling him is good for the football club. To many accountants and not enough football fans these days. There is nothing positive about a Kane sale.
There is absolutely nowhere for levy/ spurs to go after Conte. Trust me, tonight is a defining moment for future of spurs. He will be very clear & direct about how shit this squad is & what he needs. Give it to him or turn out the lights and lock the door behind him as he goes
Moving Bergwijn on is the right thing to do. Spurs waste so much time and effort on players like him, GLC and NDombele hoping they will come good. Shift them on and get better in.
Years ago when Conte was at Juventus I remember him saying something along the lines of
'All players have ability. The difference is the ones that work hard. The ones that die to win and train until they drop or die'
We saw that today.
Conte as you would expect has given them all a chance but he is ruthless. He won't take this type of performance or attitude. He will burn a few after tonight and you won't see them in a spurs shirt again
Vlahovic is available this window and that's a fact so the issue about no options in January doesn't exist. He is an absolute beast of a player and will only get better. Spurs could get him if they decided to behave like a big club and not a profit house for a change
Ex players like
@rioferdy5
&
@trevor8sinclair
suggesting Kane is doing right thing not honouring his contract. These people have no right to be role models in society. Call out the super league but then suggest a player is right to sit at home on £200k pw
Spurs have wasted some money over the years but everytime I watch Maguire I can't help but focus on the fact Utd spent £80m on a very limited average CB.
Levy earned £7m last season, more than any other Premier league chairman. We have a manager on £15m a year, one of the highest earnings in world football. How can this be right for a club that is finishing mid table and hasn't won a thing for over a decade.
Conte holds the board to account and has even publicly called for them to be honest about the footballing ambition. You may not like the football but he's challenging the weak mentally and poor structure. Him going will be a sad day for the future of the club.
If you don't watch Italian football you may not have seen much of Bastoni. I probably watch more Serie A than any other league and particularly Inter. I can assure you he is the real deal and would be the most complete defender at the club....
Spurs aren't losing £165k per game. They are making considerably more revenue per match day than they were pre new stadium. The £165k is additional revenue opportunity for a full stadium. All clubs experiencing reduced capacity due to Covid. Bit obvious really.
Conte rejected Spurs as he didn't aee then as serious contenders. When they went back to him there were assurances made & a 3.5yr contract offer. Conte was the driver of the shorter deal as he wanted to see the ambition matched to the words. Last summer it wasn't &
Absolutely nobody has any sympathy for Chelsea. They used the money of RA to damage the game with zero regard for anyone else. You take the upside; you get the downside. No one is bothered by their plight, their decline would be a great message to others intending the same
Hating on Kane is ridiculous. He will have been absolutely torn about this move. He loves Spurs and the fanbase. His relationship with Levy and his complete lack of trust in the direction of the club is the reason he's gone. He left ENIC, not spurs.
A year in and what a breath of fresh air he is.
Mid table to CL
3pts the gap to City this season
Bounced the likes of NDombele/GLC out of the club
Driving a mentality change across the club
A winner and we are lucky to have him.
Rival fans hate Kane because he’s absolutely brilliant, world class. Their hatred is driven by jealousy and envy. Keep hating, he’ll keep scoring and tearing your team a new arse every time he plays against you.
You might not like Conte, but he is well respected by everyone in the game. That damning assessment of spurs will be ringing all around Europe this evening. There won't be many managers fancying this gig without some serious assurances about the backing they'll get
An awful window for spurs from a footballing perspective.
Absolutely zero intent shown to back another new manager. The new stadium has only benefited the owners. Team is worse than the 1 we had before the huge hike in revenue. Probably the least ambitious club in the league
We took 30 goals out of the team and pocketed £100m in the process. Can't possibly have a plan to replace that until we shift a few defenders and midfielders though. Pathetic way to run a football team. Should've had the solution the day after Kane went.
Absolutely no one will ever convince me RA was in any way good for football. He started the cycle of hyper inflated fees & wages. Which ultimately increased the cost of access to football for fans of every club in the league. Not to mention of course the source of his wealth
Porro is the same player irrespective of a £5m loan fee or a £40m purchase. The payment is the clubs choice and I have zero interest in anything other than him hitting the ground running and bringing his form into our starting 11.
ENIC have destroyed this football club. Got lucky with Poch and a player like Kane coming through the system. Everything else has been failure in terms of football
Coutinho walks into the spurs starting 11. More creativity and attacking prowess than our entire current crop of MFs combined. Why wouldn't anyone want him at spurs? Gives us exactly what CE took away from the side
Digging out Skipp is silly. He’s an 18 year old kid thrust into the toughest league in the world earlier than expected due to injuries. He’s learning from this. Just think what you were up to at 18.
At 2 - 0 up away from home, there's a way you play. Ange doesn't have that in him and ultimately that continues to cost Spurs and makes us look silly. The 5 game unbeaten run means nothing against poor and inferior sides. 1st decent team, we have Ange ball back
Being anti Poch because he didn't win anything is nonsensical.
He's actually the only reason you had any semblance of hope Spurs could actually win something.
If you don't like the way Conte operates, I get that. But to suggest he's the problem and the wrong manager for spurs is just about the most defeatist weak mentality a fanbase can have. He's wrong because it wants to win and levy has convinced you spurs can't. Jesus!
West ham are potentially 2 games from a trophy and a CL spot. Arsenal game means nothing to them. Only way spurs get CL now is by winning all their remaining games, including at Anfield. Last 2 games killed spurs
NDombele isn't the player some think he is by the way. Tell me the last time he controlled or imposed himself on a game. Looks far from a £50m at the moment.
Spurs is all about the money and empire building. The football club is dead and ENIC have profited hugely from taking the name Tottenham Hotspur away from the fans and making it a commercial entity.
Toby is 30, Rose is 29, Jan is 32. Whether we like it or not, that's an aging defence and is in need of transition to younger players. If that means Toby goes and we give Foyth/sanchez much more playing time then I'll accept it. I do want Rose to stay this season though.
I think Ange will regret the 'I usually win something in the 2nd year' comment. Will be used to beat him by the media at every opportunity this season.
Bale will get the headlines and understandably so but we have also just signed an excellent LB who will change the team dynamic so much. One of the buys of the summer for me
Spurs aren't looking for a manager to lead a project. If they were, they would have moved for Poch. But he's grown in character since 2019 and they won't like that. They want someone they can control and manipulate. Someone grateful for the job who won't demand too much.
Kane sitting at home probably in a city shirt whilst the team and fans that pay him £10m a year don't have a ST in the squad for today. Yes I am angry and yes I think he's behaved with absolute contempt for the club and fans.
Levy told you the new stadium was to ensure spurs would compete at the highest level financially & in football terms. That's what you wanted to hear, so you believed it without substance.
Conte has told you that's not the case & the facts back it up but you don't like that truth
Kane’s commitment is something that for many outside the fan base goes unnoticed. Puts his body through hell for the cause of the club, hates missing even a minute if he can help it. Not sure there’s an equal in the current game. Man is phenomenal & we’re lucky to have him
Every decision Levy and ENIC make, pushes the nest generation of fan towards other London clubs. He might be making tons of cash and building an empire but he's killing the football club at the same time. Stadium is a tourist attraction, event venue and that's the priority
the position changed, with main targets not moved for. He wasn't expecting the world but at least signings to progress the process. He's disillusioned, like all spurs managers before. Levy should be grateful he turned down the longer deal, which is saving £30m payoff
Napoli are about to lose one of the best DOF but Nagelsmann is willing to speak to them. The DOF stuff is nothing to do with why he won't talk to spurs, it's simply about the ambition.
Kane's statement is damage limitation. Guy hasn't even bothered picking up the phone to the manager and you all heard Nuno's comments about the situation after the game. Don't get sucked because it's kane. He has handled this awfully & with contempt
Instead of the 'Dele is the new scapegoat' views, how about taking into account he's been awful for a longtime and has done nothing to deserve a place in the team.
Bale going to China says everything you need to know about him. Blessed with an unbelievable talent but puts money over everything else, despite already having more than he could ever spend
Tell you what's a great idea. Let Conte have the players he wants to enable him to do his job. Works for Pep, Klopp, Arteta etc. Also has worked for Conte at every other club as well.
#spurs
are one of the biggest and best run clubs in the world. We have a very talented and capable board and one of the best managers in football. To suggest we don't have a strategy & plan in place for transfers seems a little naive and silly to me
Being critical and frustrated by Levy/Spurs does not make you less of a supporter.
Constantly praising Levy does not make you a better supporter. Personally I follow spurs for on field success, not balance sheets or architectural rewards.
The serial losers are unhappy again, let's get rid of the serial winner to keep them happy.
Whilst we're at it, let's build a new hotel or 2 to keep selling the dream tomorrow will be our day.
Don't waste time backing the wrong coach. He's not operated in a league at this level and he's coming up short. Not learning, not adapting and not good enough
I don't think Nagelsmann chooses Spurs. Even if he did, it would end up in the same way as Conte. He'll expect to be backed, He'll want to be competitive, and ultimately, it will fall apart
After 22 years of ownership, as we stand today as a football club, we are wealthier and that's it. Nothing has been achieved on the pitch and the club is an absolute mess from top to bottom.
Average looking girl with to much makeup on and not enough clothes, slags off rival football team to gain interest from men. Seems to be the thing on Twitter currently. Desperation for validation is actually very sad.
If you’re not rating Winks you probably never rated Carrick either. Or your Just a bitter Gooner. England hasn’t had a player like Winks for a long time. He’s becoming the player that the rest of the players want in the side with them
Would love to see us go and get a nasty bastard MF this season. Someone that not only hates losing but would batter his own players for not being 100% on it. We lack a real leader in the centre of the park.
Watching the influence the wingbacks have in this Liverpool side just highlights the priority upgrades for spurs this summer. Hakimi wants out of PSG, that would be a great start.
Spurs ravaged by injuries and allegedly in crisis, have won as many games as Liverpool, City and Arsenal. And are just a point behind title contenders Arsenal.
The reason we have a manager like Ange at Spurs is the lack of real ambition from the owners. He's grateful to be at a relatively big club and accepts what he's given.
If Spurs is annoying you now, then the summer will be an entire new level for you.
Bunch of loan players coming back we don't want & can't sell.
Losing a top manager & no one will want the job.
Need a new GK which will coat a fortune
All summer speculating about Kane leaving.
@gavinspurs
You keep blaming the managers mate, like I've sold to you previously. They're all wrong and Levy is always right. That's why we have won everything
Watford, Soton, Norwich. The only sides to have won less games than spurs this season. That's the current bottom 3. Absolutely no excuse for where we are in the league currently. Everyone at spurs from boardroom, to the management & players should be ashamed of themselves
Perisic could have stayed at Spurs until the summer and collected near on £200k a week. Instead, he's heading off and will be picking up around 20% of that.
Jesus, we’ve just signed the best manager we’ve had in decades on a long term deal and some just want to moan about Toby. Grow the f^*k up and rejoice that we’ve signed the single most important man at the club!!
Those saying Kane isn't elite because he hasn't won any trophies are actually reinforcing how Elite he actually is.
Imagine if he played at a trophy winning elite side and a top national team. He'd probably have 20%-30% more goals already.
Kane is the best number 9 you'll see.
I get the sentiment around Poch but talking about tributes at future games is a step to far. The manager is Jose now and it's about looking forward. Respect and be grateful for what Poch did yes but celebrating him at a game with the new manager in change is wrong and odd
