Smuggler’s Blues teleplay was written by the late Miguel Piñero, Nuyorican poet, ex-con and award-winning playwright (Short Eyes). Miguel co-starred – indelibly – as Calderone in the Miami Vice pilot and subsequent episodes.  He played an Eme shotcaller in my Folsom prison drama, The Jericho Mile, in 1979.
