To all those who lost someone on flight AA 5342 yesterday: My heart, and my family's hearts, go out to you as you experience this searing emotional pain of inexplicable loss. Nothing prepares you for this. Your life is changed forever. Words and condolences sound hollow as the grief-driven pressure on your brain and the static noise of the world are near intolerable. In this 2020 paper, I reviewed the 1980s trade debate, and found that the skeptics of free trade were usually correct, while "mainstream" trade economists like Paul Krugman were usually wrong.
