@DocGauhar @EndoLuminalEndo @BAUSendourology @steffiyuen "passive suction" is likely to be a result of the low outflow resistance with the tip of the FANS in the renal pelvis and so the renal pelvis equilibrates to atmospheric pressure. But this is different from suction.

@steffiyuen @EndoLuminalEndo @BAUSendourology @DocGauhar And are in keeping with numerous other studies. When using a FANS (even without suction) with the tip in the renal pelvis the IRP will drop significantly due to the lower outflow resistance

@steffiyuen @EndoLuminalEndo @BAUSendourology @DocGauhar These experiments were done on multiple clearpetra & elephant FANS (with normal diaphragms). With an open valve, air is preferentially suctioned through the valve rather than fluid from the (higher resistance) long access sheath.
