@_kruptos This is definitely the biggest downside to homeschooling. My oldest is 9.5 and I already am seeing that he could benefit from a teacher who is not Mom. He definitely needs some male authorities in the school realm.

It’s interesting to me that when a Muslim man murders a lot of people there is a rush (by Christian public figures even) to say this does not represent Islam’s teachings.
The man who murdered women in a massage parlor yesterday says he was "eliminating temptation" because he had a sex addiction. He was a baptized member of an SBC church. Brothers. Pastors. Seminary heads. How you teach sexuality matters. It can be life and death. .

My 2yo just started speech therapy. So grateful his speech therapists don’t support this nonsense and he can see their mouths as they help him learn how to articulate.
Babies and young children study faces, so you may worry that having masked caregivers would harm children’s language development. There are no studies to support this concern. Young children will use other clues like gestures and tone of voice.

Happy Mother's Day to @meghangfischer!. Raising five kids is itself a big project, and she adds homeschooling to this (with a wonderful and enriching approach cultivated over numerous hours of research and prep). Our children are fortunate, and I am grateful for her devotion.

That's interesting, because I never heard anyone talk about World before you left, and now I hear lots of good things about it in its current form from other people.
@DavidAFrench offers a reasoned analysis that should not lead to questioning of his faith. Christians should be able to disagree on policy questions without being met by "sloppy, straw man attacks." Sadly, that's what World is becoming known for. @ZengerHouse.

And I just harvested my first zucchini and yellow squash this morning! Our backyard is becoming my oasis.
Picked up some gardening in the last couple years. Something special about seeing plants grow/seasonal rhythm/etc—and really brightens up the yard. I do flowers and herbs; @meghangfischer added vegetables this spring.

Vivek is right. Blasphemy/hate speech laws often function by enhancing punishment for otherwise minor crimes based on targeted speech that accompanies it. The UN is pushing such laws globally, and it’s important to recognize this trend in America. 1/3.

I had a D&C after a miscarriage. The accusation that I had an abortion is the most cruel thing I can imagine. After Dobbs my own midwife - who created a pro-life atmosphere in her practice - actually posted the cruelest meme that said a D&C is an abortion. I left her practice.
Few things are more ghoulish than attempts like this to equate a D&C following a miscarriage with the deliberate killing of a living baby.

I’m a huge Olympics fan. @NateAFischer and I had tickets to 7 gold medal events at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics … then COVID regulations hit. But Kangmin is right. I’ve barely thought about the Olympics this year. Sad. They were a highlight of my childhood.
I forgot the Olympics were happening this year. You probably did too. Wonder why you feel this way?. The Olympics becomes less relevant every year because of increased globalization, immigration, and loss of national identity. As countries become more indistinguishable.

I chose a Catholic hospital for miscarriage care - it was a relief to know that the medical equipment hadn’t been used in abortions. The OB at USCF actually had directed me to their abortion clinic to get my D&C - “don’t worry, there’s a separate entrance for abortions.” 😤.

This is very true in Dallas. Lots of opportunity for new Christian schools to open as there are long waiting lists.
Classical education has hit a tipping point. Nearly every classical charter has an extensive waiting list, homeschool growth has been explosive, Catholic schools are returning to the fullness of the Tradition, and classical Christian schools are launching everywhere. Reality is.
