As for Player of the Year, Tommy Bolte is the best story in the MEC and perhaps all of college basketball. Averaged 11 points a game last year. Is averaging 31 this season. Wowsers. Dude is a machine and would be very deserving of the award.

I would go with first year coach Will Ryan. What he has done at Wheeling this season is incredible. The school & program almost shut down. pretty much all of the players transferred. Had to bring in basically a whole new team. Cardinals were preseason dead last & finished 5th.

traveled three hours to Wheeling the last two years just to see Wheeling Jesuit-West Liberty hoops. that streak will end this season. Without a doubt was the best rivalry in MEC hoops.

saw the Cal PA men Saturday. The Vulcans don’t have a lot of man power this season. They do have one of best coaches there is in Danny Sancomb. He will most definitely take that program to great heights over the next few years.

West Liberty somehow finds a way to come back and defeat Fairmont State 119-113 in overtime. With the win, the Hilltoppers clinch the Mountain East Conference regular season title for the 5th straight season and 9 times out of the 10 years in the MEC. Absolutely incredible feat!

I admit I’m a WV State alum & they are the reason I got started with my hoops fandom. So I will root for them against anybody just like everyone else roots for their school. But I feel like I do a fairly good job of hyping up/promoting players from every school in the MEC.
