It’s amazing how MLB can toy with the faith of baseball fans. How do you explain a lockout to an 11 year old kid? He doesn’t give a damn about money. He wants to see Tim Anderson play. Owners, please explain to this kid.
The older I get, the more I think heaven is Saturday mornings alone, with coffee, and fantasy baseball preparation. After a crazy week of work, this is my peace.
There’s been a miracle in the Carter house this AM. At 6:17, just as I’m settling in to my coffee and fantasy baseball, Jack emerged from his room, went to pee, and went RIGHT BACK TO BED. Not lying: I may have teared up. The silence remains…for now!
Life is hard. It’s been tough for me often. Jack left me this note yesterday; I quietly teared up. I was criticized for my decision-making in our last game, & rightfully so. I’m trying hard but don’t always feel successful. This made me feel pretty damn good. Keep grinding.
I am proud to announce that I will be reporting on bullpens weekly this season for the growing, amazing team
@Fantrax
. I will also continue working
@SPStreamer
as well, writing about streaming hitters for weekly FAAB runs. Sadly, to do this, I had to resign from
@Roto_Fanatic
.
Was criticized recently for doing "woman's work" @ the house. My wife works 40+ hours/week. Cleaning bathrooms, vacuuming, cleaning the bird cage, laundry, pulling weeds and making meals is a shared role in this house and most that I know of. Tired of "roles." It's all our role.
I'm excited about this & grateful to
@EricCross04
&
@rotodaddy
for the chance they have given me
@Fantrax
. I've been fortunate to be able to work in fantasy baseball and never take that opportunity for granted. Thanks to the awesome team at Fantrax for always being supportive!
Please help us in congratulating
@mdrc0508
, our newest Senior Writer!
Mike has done a wonderful job with his high quality content and is the ultimate team player deserving of a bump like this.
From Mental Health Movement:
Over the coming weeks you’re going to see a lot of people posting their big highlights of the year.
It’s okay if your biggest accomplishment of the year was surviving. That’s big. 💙
I’ll say it and then I’ll stop saying it, I promise. It’s time for the White Sox to rid themselves of Eloy Jimenez and Yoan Moncada. They are the failed poster children of a rebuild that won two playoff games. I’m healthier than Eloy; I’m 50 and have rheumatoid arthritis.
This dude turns 12 today. He’s a work in progress but he’s got a huge heart and is exceedingly kind to most people. Happy birthday Jackson! Hope the White Sox win for you tonight!
A parent captured this moment between Jack& me after he pitched the other night. I’m explaining: some nights you have it, some you don’t. Some nights your teammates have it, some nights they don’t. Never quit. You always get another chance in baseball. Keep grinding & have fun!
I was looking at my profile today and I’m closing in on 3000 followers. Any expectations I had when I got on here have been far surpassed. Thanks to all for the follows, friendship and reading my stuff. I’m really enjoying this part of life.
I really enjoy creating fantasy baseball content on the weekends. Such a great distraction from the world of work and constant rush of daily life. Thanks to those of you who support me and those of you who read my stuff every week!
Too much fantasy baseball on the brain. This AM in a team meeting on a student I uttered, "he is a prime candidate for regression." Odd looks; blank stares. Oops.
Lance Lynn is a beast. That performance is why you trade a burgeoning talent for a guy like him. Challenged hitters all night; gets the ball and throws it. Hard: Love it.
First dynasty draft from scratch:
1.14 Bo Bichette
2.35 Aaron Nola
3.59 Jarred Kelenic
Besides
@EricCross04
who worships Kelenic, ha ha, how am I doing?
This is my debut on bullpens for
@Fantrax
. Please take a look and see how you like it. Thanks to
@EricCross04
and
@rotodaddy
for their positive encouragement. Let us know if you like the format or have suggestions for improvement. Thanks for reading if you do!
Conference champs. A 21-5 record. A truly special group of guys. I loved every minute being the assistant on this team. I love all of them. They do things right, play for each other, pick each other up, and play to win. Proud of you guys!
@BataviaBaseball
@KyleCzerak
Opening Day for BYB RED after coaching the
@BataviaBaseball
freshman team this AM. A 17-7 win in the AM, a 13-11 come-from-behind in the afternoon. A good day!
This kid is 17 today, and I don’t know how that happened. What I do know: she is funny, hard-working, studious, kind and has a huge heart for the world around her. I’m so blessed and lucky to be her dad. Happy birthday Ellie! Love you always.
I learned this morning that I just crossed 4,000 followers. It’s humbling. I honestly never expected 100. Thanks to all for your friendship and support these last couple of years.
The MLB Closer Landscape: Bullpens in Flux Already
@fantrax
. And so begins our weekly trek through MLB bullpens. Here we go! Thanks for reading if you do!
Many are struggling with mental health issues today. In real life, I work at a therapeutic school for kids with social/emotional disorders. Days and weeks can be tough; suicide is never the answer. My DMS are ALWAYS open to ANYONE who needs to talk. I'm here. No judgment.
What a difference a year makes. I’m on his ass daily, but Jack is a good kid and worked his butt off to get better. He was a huge part of this team and I’m prouder of the effort than the result. Luck is where preparation meets opportunity. Now he’s part of a championship team.
Nice moment this AM: in IEP mtg, parent of former student is now a nurse in the district. Asked if I was "that same Mr. Carter" from all those yrs ago. I said yes. And she said, "we still talk about you at our house. You got (daughter) through high school. Thank you!"
Do we have a budding analyst on our hands? Hot takes last night from Jack and my follow-up note to him this morning before work. Made me smile. As does getting Ian Happ as my OF3. Ha ha.
Through eight round for me in
#TGFBI
. How am I doing? Suggestions? Criticism?
1.7 Bryce Harper
2.24 Manny Machado
3.37 Aaron Nola
4.54 Edwin Diaz
5.67 Kevin Gausman
6.85 Jonathan India
7.97 Carlos Correa
8.114 Christian Yelich
There may be nothing better than coaching your son in an All-Star Game. A great night and Jack played very well. He proved to himself that he can play with anyone.
I just crossed over 2500 followers and friends here. It's beyond my expectations. Thanks to all for the support, kindness and good humor here. To quote Elvis Costello (via Nick Lowe), thanks for being the light in the darkness of insanity! Happy Saturday all!
I’ve been negative re: Tim Anderson, but huge praise to him today for using his platform as a star MLB player to talk about his experience with therapy and dealing with mental health. Men, don’t stay silent and suffer alone! Reach out! Let’s talk about it!
Today is commencement for our seniors. It also marks the end of my 26th year in special education. The work never really gets old, but I'm at a place beyond tired. Grateful to an amazing team of people here in a year like no other.
@BBisntBoring
Not a rule, but bring back the game of the week on free TV and make sure every team gets on it. And put it on at times kids like this one can watch!
Feels dangerous to have Logan Gilbert, Alek Manoah, Jackson Kowar, Tarik Skubal and Casey Mize in one home keeper league...but I like it. Ooh. So edgy in my old age...
As this year ends, I wanted to say thanks for all my new friends on Twitter. At the beginning of 2020 I was barely on here and knew no one. Have made many friends, many through the fantasy baseball community, and am so appreciative.
Days like today, I wish I were a fantasy baseball analyst full-time and could support my family. Schools off the rails right now. Trying hard to teach our students about respect, work ethic, & healthy boundaries. Feel like Sisyphus pushing the rock up hill all day. :)
2023 Fantasy Baseball: Potential Breakout Relievers - FantraxHQ. Wondering about some potential reliever breakouts? Check out my latest
@Fantrax
piece here. Let’s get drafting!
Only one team wins the championship. That won’t be our team this season. But here’s my favorite player consoling his teammate last night after a tough walk-off playoff loss. I’m proud of Jack always, but really proud of his being a good teammate.
GWRBI tonight off a big-time closer for an excellent team. Saturday’s game didn’t go well: surrendered five earned runs, three walks, only one out. Today he’s the hero. Isn’t baseball just the best game in the world? God I love the game.
Word of warning: be careful of spending too much FAAB tonight on guys you think are closing long-term. It rarely works out that way. Hard to definitively know after 3-4 games for most teams. Caveat emptor or something like that.
Season ended tonight. This guy learned so much about the joy of playing this season despite being on a lousy team. First question he asked postmortem: “when does fall ball start?” Love this guy and the effort he throws out there every night. Now for a little break!
Please send any good karma my way as we start in-person classes at my therapeutic day school. Hoping for good health and safety for all students and staff using this hybrid model. Thanks! :)
