My latest for Quanta: Researchers have found evidence of parity violation in the large scale structure of the universe. This points to parity violating interactions way back during inflation, when the seeds of LSS were planted.
A cosmic game of Connect the Dots may have revealed a left-right asymmetry in the arrangement of galaxies. The surprising finding is still undergoing peer review and many physicists say caution is warranted. @mccornut reports:

@philipcball You wrote about it in 2017! (I read your Physics World piece when researching for this story). Since 2017, they've used the similar techniques to apply topology to other fluids, and just recently, measured the topological invariant (winding number) of atmospheric waves
