10 years ago, Red Kelly presented me with this amazing silver stick for my 1000th game in the NHL. Mr Kelly was the 1st Maple Leaf to ever play his 1000th game with The buds. And I was the the 21st player to achieve that too.
My heart breaks with the passing of one of my heroes.

Gross Misconduct, under which Marchand's licking of opponents to incite them could easily have been classified, was eliminated from NHL Rule Book. Broader interpretation of current misconduct rules could be feasible. At absolute least, unsportsmanlike conduct + 10 min misconduct

And while we're at it, Alex Mogilny should be in the Hockey Hall of Fame, end of story. 1032 career points, 1st European captain, first Soviet to defect to NHL (which had to be terrifying for a 20 year old), 76 goal season, Stanley Cup winner, and best five hole shot of all time.

jersey to Markham High School. Being a kid from Markham, Steve was my hero. I too played 19 years in the NHL
I saw Steve Thomas the other day. It made me think. He retired very quietly from the NHL. There will be no Hall of Fame for him. Played 20 seasons in the NHL. Was never sent down to minors. It’s such an amazing feat. Not bad for a kid from England.
