One of the coolest scenes I’ve ever witnessed. Gehrig Conrad lost his father a couple of days ago, tonight in the 3rd round of the state playoffs he absolutely dealt! With two strikes his teammates gave him a hug and then he unleashed a 91 mph fastball. @StoneSports_T4L 🙏🏻

Showcase baseball is heading down a scary path. People with limited knowledge of how the game is played at the higher levels and the inability to promote players are involved now. There need to be some type of vetting process for tourneys. I would love to be on that committee. .

No matter how we spin it, the best pitchers rely on a combination of velocity, command, stuff, deception, mental toughness, and arrogance. The absence of even one of these traits can often determine or change your level of success. Train each of them, if you can….

I would hate to go into a battle with Velocity as my premier weapon. It’s a valuable one, but any good hitter can beat velocity. Learn to attack your opponent with the ultimate weapon; Command. Command can beat anyone….

The velo conversation is so tiring. Each generation has thrown harder than the previous and guys that PITCH still stand out. The difference is more people make us think velo creates success. It only gets you into more clubs, if you can’t dance you’ll get kicked out eventually….

I’ve asked hundreds of young players what makes them more uncomfortable, being pitched in or away? 100% say “IN”. The ability to throw in makes the plate wider. Trust me…. Teach your pitchers to throw in….

I never knew what it was like to “commit” or get an offer. Don’t know what it’s like to be ranked or drafted. Those things never happened for me…. But I do know what it’s like to be highly pissed off for feeling overlooked. Go knock some walls down👊🏼.

The one knee down catching style seems to be a big topic these days. My take. With runners on, if I’m the pitcher, get your knee off the ground. With no one on, do it your way. pretty simple to me. we can both be happy. .

Young pitchers. I remember hating contact more than anything. I didn’t want the hitter to touch it. It was embarrassing to me. I became a Big Leaguer when I decided to search for contact early. Welcome contact. desire it! . It will make you a better PITCHER. .

I often went through my delivery with my eyes closed in training so I could understand “feel”. I wanted complete control of ME. Great control of your movements can lead to command. If you don’t have great control of YOU, don’t expect to have great control of a baseball.

The glorification of velo has led to the thinking that K’s are the goal of pitching. K’s are a bonus. Pitch with a plan and welcome contact through your action. Get outs early! It still works…. Throwers don’t have a plan other than “hoping” they beat you by missing your bat.

For the people in the back. Showcases are for players to get noticed by recruiters. The recruiters then should follow those players to see if tools translate to game play. Pretty simple concept. Showcases are pretty important to the recruitment process for many players. .

Young players. Rules do not state 0-2 or 1-2 pitches MUST be off speed. If you got there with your fastball and clearly overmatch your opponent, put him away.

People ask about my mental approach. Off the field I open doors for people, say yes mam and no mam, it’s how I was raised. On the field, I became a jerk. I couldn’t care less about the guy at the plate, he was trying to embarrass me, and I wasn’t gonna let it happen.
