Spare a thought for those
@scouts
volunteers who are about to do the night shift for the lying-in-state. An additional 45 volunteers joined the team today. If you are, or were, a Scout I hope you feel as proud as I do. They are doing a brilliant job.
This image, of Polish Scouts helping people fleeing Ukraine, in this instance a lost girl, makes me proud to be a Scout. It also underscores the importance of civil society organisations whenever there’s a crisis.
An early start to say thank you to the
@scouts
volunteers who have played such an important role supporting queues for the lying-in-state. They are a credit to the movement and have played their part with humility and dedication. A fitting tribute to HM The Queen.
This is such a powerful video (worth seeing full version). Huge thanks to HRH The Duchess of Cambridge for hosting this conversation between 98 year old Colonel Blum (who was a Scout) & 10 year old Cub Scout Emily talking about remembrance & 100 years of the

Overwhelmed by all the lovely comments about the OBE. Thank you! I’ve been blessed to work with so many talented staff, trustees, student officers, young leaders & at
@ukscouting
160k amazing volunteers who prepare young people with
#skillsforlife
. They all deserve recognition.
This is totally heartbreaking. The thoughts of the entire Scout movement are with Jodie’s family and friends. Too many young people are dying needlessly as a result of violence. This has to stop.
Hugely grateful to the incredible 12,500
@UKScouting
volunteers who joined our all member webinar tonight. Challenging times but we will prevail. Young people and the country need us! Thanks for everything you are all doing for young people and your communities.💪🙏🌈
Early years development is so important and exactly why
@scouts
started Squirrels - Scouts for 4 and 5 year olds. After just one year since the launch there are 11,000 Squirrel Scouts supported by 2,000 incredible volunteers.
Ahead of the launch of our new campaign designed to raise awareness of the critical importance of early childhood, The Princess of Wales has written an open letter outlining why this issue is so important.
#ShapingUs
Such a special day celebrating Queen Scouts, young people who have shown remarkable courage and leaders who have supported them over decades. At a time when the news is so bleak
@scouts
represents optimism, hope and positivity. Well done to all award recipients.
A huge privilege to welcome HRH The Duchess of Cambridge at
@UKScouting
HQ to talk about our early years pilots and 100 years of leadership development at

#skillsforlife
After a challenging year for so many it was nice to be able to share some positive news about The Duchess of Cambridge becoming Joint President of
@UKScouting
- thanks to 12th Northolt Scout Group leaders, parents and young people for making the day so special.
I’m so grateful to all the
@scouts
who served today and played their part. You’re a credit to the movement. All praise also to
@JustinWelby
for placing service at the heart of the
#Coronation
and for hosting young leaders in St Margaret’s Church
It was a real pleasure to be at the launch of the
#ShapingUs
campaign last night and to view this wonderful film. For anyone involved in early years development - including Squirrel
@scouts
volunteers - this is why what you do is so critical to a young person’s development.
Today, we're launching our new
#ShapingUs
campaign to highlight the importance of early childhood.
Watch this video to find out how and why our early childhood shapes the adults we become.
The final flights of the
@UKContingent
are making their way home from the World Scout Jamboree & I’ve got more grey hairs than a month ago! Plenty to say in the future. For now I’m so grateful to all
@scouts
volunteers & staff who worked so hard to turn things around. 🙏🙏🙏
It’s a hugely exciting new chapter for the
@scouts
as we announce Squirrels - a tailor-made programme for 4 and 5 year olds. Squirrels will help children learn skills at a time when it matters most, where it’s needed most.

Critical that Government announce emergency package of support for the voluntary sector. The coronovirus crisis is affecting small, medium and large charities when they are most needed as a result of significant reductions in fundraising and trading.
Today we are going to be talking more about The Big Help Out - a huge mobilisation of volunteers to take place on the Bank Holiday Monday - organised by
@scouts
@RoyalVolService
@togethercoalit
and others. Lots of media coverage today
One of my highlights of the week is where
@UKScouting
staff get randomly allocated another colleague to catch up with for 30 mins. It’s SO energising and probably is leading to more meaningful conversations about each other’s lives than we would have done pre-pandemic.
My son’s reflection on his return to face to face
@UKScouting
tonight after a very long time online was ‘that’s the most fun I’ve had since Christmas’. Thanks to all the leaders helping restart face to face Scouting. You’re making such a difference 🙏💪

Thanks for all the supportive comments today. Couldn’t be prouder of how
@UKContingent
has dealt with such challenging circumstances. Special shout out to
@CCHertsScouts
who’s been an exemplary leader. This video was taken when young people arrived in Seoul. They’re AMAZING!

We’re so delighted that HRH The Duchess of Cambridge has been announced as

@scouts
are looking forward to working with the new Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood
Today I’m proud to be launching The Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood — let’s embrace this golden opportunity to create a happier, more mentally healthy and more nurturing society.
Well I can’t pretend the first 7 months of the year were that easy! So time to stop and recharge the batteries. Huge thanks to the amazing
@UKScouting
staff who have been so brilliant and as ever to all volunteers who continue to inspire. 🙏 See you in a fortnight.
Ok here we go again. Inevitable that the start to the year was going to be tough, but it still feels crap. We need to be there for each other and particularly support young people who are really going to need our support for the next couple of months.
#bekind
Young people lost out on so much in the past year and many were unable to continue

#goodforyou
Well that’s a wrap for 2020. The sort of year that should hang it’s head in shame. It’s been an emotional rollercoaster. But we put that behind us, dust ourselves down & we go again in 2021. Thanks to our remarkable staff & volunteers who gave it everything. Happy Xmas all!🎄
On a personal note, it’s particularly special for the family as my Dad has also been recognised in the same honours list with an MBE for voluntary service to the community of Ramsey. Super proud of him for giving a lifetime of service to his town and to others.
My dad was 80 today. He hasn’t yet been able to go pick up his MBE so had an afternoon of family celebrations and wore the outfits we would have worn to the Palace.
Leaving
@2019_wsj

The fact that charities were absent from yesterday’s budget is clearly hugely disappointing. Charities, volunteers, social enterprises are playing a critical role in winning the war against Covid. They will play a central role in winning the peace also, as the UK recovers.
We are so chuffed that
@BearGrylls
is staying with us until 2023 as

I fear we are not far off from a well known charity collapsing and only then will
