I was lucky enough to bump into these young people exploring the Statehouse today so I invited them in for a quick office tour (which always includes candy)
What a privilege to honor the great legacy and life of my dear friend and mentor, Speaker Bill Batchelder— an iconic public servant who understood and liked people as much as he understood and liked public policy. Batch made us all better elected officials and better people.
I didn’t take enough abuse from people I don’t know for my congressional redistricting proposal so I volunteered to ref the CYO games this morning. Fortunately I drew Coach Joe Whitaker who I coached in 1993. He went easy on me.
Regarding a recent recommendation by the CDC that children receive the COVID-19 vaccination…I want to reassure the people of Ohio that I
am committed to making sure parents have the final say in their children’s medical decisions.

Such a special day debuting the 135th General Assembly. Grateful for my family & to my colleagues for once again trusting me to lead our chamber as Senate President. My colleagues and I understand the goal of providing a foundation for success for the next generation of Ohioans.
I’m pleased to announce that Senate Bill 89, which provides flexibility to Ohio’s career technical centers and improves eligibility for the EdChoice scholarship program, has been approved by both the Ohio Senate and Ohio House of Representatives and will be sent to the Governor.
Watch my interview with Lisa on ABC Channel 6 Columbus tonight about Senate Bill 320, which empowers school districts to make their own decisions and plan for welcoming students back to school in the fall.
It was a great honor to receive the

I am deeply saddened by the passing of Kris Jordan. I served with him under the late Speaker Batchelder. Kris was a member of both chambers and as a senator and representative served his Delaware County district honorably.
The 135th General Assembly is underway and the Ohio Senate is hard at work to create policy that invests in Ohio’s families and future. Read more in my latest newsletter and sign-up to receive periodical updates from my office:

SB 216 is the product of over a year of hard work, built from the ground up by public school teachers and superintendents. I am proud of the relief this bill gives to our educators, and am immensely grateful for all of their expertise and support in making this reform a reality
Senator

encourages the Senate to support House amendments to the "Public School Deregulation Act," legislation designed to reduce the amount of unnecessary mandates and regulations affecting Ohio’s public schools.
The civil justice system should not be used as a weapon against free speech. Citizens should excercise their first amendment rights without the threat of meritless lawsuits. I am proud to introduce Senate Bill 215: the Ohio Citizen Participation Act.
The redistricting proposal, SJR 5, has been passed out of committee with unanimous, bipartisan support! Full Senate session will occur later this evening
