Big news from

I am one of the 16 Police & Crime Commissioners calling for permanent changes to the recruitment regime for police officers. Police forces should have flexibility to make better local choice and recruit from a wide range of backgrounds. 🗞️👮🏻♀️

Earlier this month I spoke about about the need for clarity and accuracy following a case of sexual assault in Oxfordshire. The debate about the recording of sex and gender has remained in the spotlight following the conviction and sentencing of the vile murderer Scarlet Blake.

Thank you for all the support from people across Thames Valley. I am delighted to have been re-elected as Police & Crime Commissioner in Thames Valley.

Abandoning your child in a pushchair to physical attack a police officer going about their duty.
I am all for challenging the police when they get things wrong, but the police are not the enemy. The only people who are the enemies of the police are criminals, and
upholding the law is in all our interests. The old adage that the public are the police and the police are the public isn’t just a quaint saying. There is a real truth underlying it that we ignore at our peril. Instead we see bystanders filming events for social media clicks

in 1943, the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising began, after German troops entered the Ghetto to round up the remaining Jews. The uprising lasted a month during which around 13,000 Jews died, the remainder being transferred to Majdanek and Treblinka concentration camps.
there’s a bigger concern in my view. As citizens in what we hope is an ordered society, we all have an interest in the rule of law. Without putting ourselves in undue danger we all have a duty to assist the police. Not just be a that’s what the common law says but because

The police benefit from being held to account. Most people in the real world still support the police in what they do.
On the latter point there is a lot more the Met and policing generally can do to engender trust. Certainly in
Delighted to have been reselected to stand again as Police & Crime Commissioner in next year's election. Thanks to colleagues for their support. Lots of work to do between now and then but look forward to continuing to seek to improve policing on behalf of the public.
Thames Valley I am determined to rebuild confidence through my

strategy, but if as a society we chose to sit back and watch (or film), whether that is in real life or as a spectator on social media then we have a much bigger problem.

roads. For most driving is an essential part of life but we can’t lose sight of the dangers when things go wrong. Thoughts are with

who are always on hand to deal with traumatic instances & do their best to keep our three counties moving.
I’ve written to the Lord Chancellor

As we await the demolition of the final three cooling towers at Didcot A power station we should all take a moment to remember the men who lost their lives in the boiler house collapse and the horrific task of emergency workers and others in recovering the bodies & investigating.
The shocking murder of PC Andrew Harper is a tragedy that will appal the public across the country. Thoughts and prayers for his family, friends and colleagues. A reminder of the bravery of all our police officers and the risks they bear every day to protect the public.
Absolutely ridiculous. As a Detective she doesn’t wear uniform and I doubt anyone would have made a similar point about a male detective wearing a suit!
A complex investigation being further complicated by often ghoulish media comments. Here’s another prime example!

Staff across the NHS have done an amazing job during the pandemic, but consistency matters in public sector pay. Police officers in
