โ A soggy afternoon in Eton on Friday, but a good discussion with @JackMRankin and Margaret Hayes-Powell from Eton Town Council about vehicle crime and anti-social behaviour linked to the nighttime economy in Windsor. We discussed ideas about CCTV and crime prevention initiatives and the potential off applying to the #CommunityFund to benefit from cash seized from criminals. ๐ฎ

Out in Chalfont St Peter before dawn this morning, talking to officers in the ground policing the dispersal order that is in place over this weekend to prevent disruption to the community from pony and trap racing on the A413. Thereโs a large policing operation in place over the weekend and a significant police presence to enforce the dispersal order.

From @TVPSouthandVale โ ๏ธ ROAD CLOSUREโ ๏ธ Following a vehicle fire on the A34 Southbound between the Abingdon Road and the Fiddlers Lane junction, we have received reports of collisions on both the North and the Southbound carriageways. Officers are on scene and other emergency services are on scene. One person has been taken to hospital but their injuries at this time are not thought to be life threatening. A number of others have also received injuries but at this time are not thought to be serious. A closure is in place on both the Northbound and Southbound carriageways and diversions are in place. We would advise motorists to avoid the area and find alternate routes as the closure is likely to be in place for a number of hours. Anyone with information is asked to โ๏ธ 101 quoting reference 1793 of today's date. We thank members of the public for their patience while the road is closed.

Following intelligence that an unauthorised pony and trap event is due to take place around the Gerrards Cross and Chalfont St Peter area this weekend, a Section 34 dispersal order will be in effect from 3am tomorrow (08/02) until 3am on Monday (10/02) ๐จ This will give officers extra powers to deal with anti-social behaviour and crime in the mapped area below ๐ We have an extensive policing operation in place to implement preventative measures and ensure public safety. Our officers will take action where necessary if criminal offences are identified. If youโre in the area and have any concerns, you can speak to any of our officers who will be on patrol today and throughout the weekend ๐ฎ๐

Peninsular War: Siege of Cรกdiz began #OnThisDay in 1810. Following the occupation of Seville, Cรกdiz became the Spanish seat of power and was targeted by 70,000 French troops. 2,000 Spanish troops defended the city who, as the siege progressed over two and a half years, received Spanish, British and Portuguese reinforcements.

Responsibility. That was my theme today when I spoke at Bletchley Park for the Buckinghamshire and MK Symposium on School Inclusion and Crime Prevention. Following another tragic death at a school in Sheffield this mission could not be more important. There is a huge role for the police, schools, and social care undoubtedly, but we donโt talk enough about parental responsibility! Great to hear it back on the agenda today.

Well itโs not a complete about-face but Iโm pleased to see Oxfordshire County Council taking some notice of the thousands who spoke out in opposition to their plans to switch off street lights last year! ๐ก Now theyโre saying thatโฆ ๐กLocal areas will have to ask for the street lights to be turned off; AND ๐กItโll only happen if thereโs support through public consultations Iโll be interested to see which areas opt to have their street lights turned off and even more interested to see if the council will listen to the public at the time. Ultimately this is far better than the blanked approach being pushed by Oxfordshire County Council last year which would have seen the majority of lights switched off after 11pm without public consultation! #keepthelightson
