‘How Machine Translation is used in Public Services’ is the subject in the next in our series of online Roundtable discussions on 17 October. The University of Bristol has partnered with CIOL to publish a survey of UK public service workers on their use of machine translation or artificial intelligence (AI) for translation. The survey has been conducted by Dr Lucas Nunes Vieira, who will take a leading part in the discussion and will be joined by project reviewers Professor Lynne Bowker and Dr Mary Nurminen, with CIOL's Dom Hebblethwaite hosting the discussion. We'll explore the extent to which MT and other AI tools are being used for translation by public service workers. We'll also discuss the challenges and risks posed, whether these practices can be stopped, and whether appropriate policies are in place. Find out more and book your place! #MT #AI #MachineTranslation #Translators #CIOL #PublicServices
