#GreaterSudbury's @dalronhomes has gotten the go-ahead to build 26 rowhomes in the Vintage Green subdivision, near Algonquin Rd. 15 single-family homes were planned, but this better reflects the @GreaterSudbury OP and growth plan for #NorthernOntario.

Officials at @PublicHealthSD are bracing for the arrival of #BirdFlu in #GreaterSudbury. They say it could be the next #pandemic. There have been no reported cases of #AvianFlu locally, but a child in BC nearly died last fall, so it is likely on the way.

.@GreaterSudbury staff recommend planning cmte approve an appy by #Dalron to rezone a tract of land in the Algonquin Rd area from low-density to med-density. The co. wants to build 26 townhouses, rather than 15 single-family homes. Some oppose the plan.

A @SudburyStar reader alerted us to the presence of an #asphalt pile on Frobisher St. They were concerned abt water leaching into #RamseyLake watershed. @GreaterSudbury says there is no cause for concern - the pile poses no greater risk than a roadway.

.@GreaterSudbury announced this wk it is reorganizing the corp. to improve operations and to welcome a new CAO. Former CAO Ed Archer (@municfo) was terminated last October. The major changes include separate chiefs for @CGSFireServices and @CGSParamedics.

The Old Skead Rd area was under a water advisory over Xmas. @PublicHealthSD imposed the advisory after a watermain break. @GreaterSudbury said it plans to do remediation work this spring, at a cost of abt $5M. There is a history of breaks in the area.

It was an honour to attend this event. #GreaterSudbury's #Jewish community held a menorah-lighting ceremony at @GreaterSudbury to commemorate the 8d festival of lights. Reps from the community say lighting the #menorah is an act of courage and resilience.

2024 in review in #GreaterSudbury. It was a busy yr at @GreaterSudbury. It began in Feb w the death of #MichaelVagnini, followed 8d later by #GerryMontpellier. Then CAO Ed Archer granted big pay raises to 31 managers. Ultimately, he was fired in October.

City hall got a $14M boost from the @liberal_party on Thursday. @GreaterSudbury will receive $1.4M annually for 10y, from 2026. The money will be used to modernize and expand the #GOVA bus system. Mayor @LefebvrePaul said CGS plans to buy 10 new buses.
