Of all losses this last year, this one is especially hard. Ihor’s body was just identified through DNA testing. He was killed on 31 March 2022 evacuating people/providing humanitarian aid to #Kherson. The id was difficult bc he was an orphan and a living relative was required.

Thank you, Rory, for this important piece. It’s a shame that 9 years after publication, the academy is still not taking these questions seriously.
In 2015 Rory Finnin wrote a checklist of vetting questions for western IR analyses about Russia's war against Ukraine. Still relevant, sadly. 1. Has the author published anything about Ukraine before?

It’s been 10 days since I heard from someone I love defending his country on frontlines of #UkraineRussiaWar. His last words were “I’m alive and that’s all that matters.” As the sun shines in Oxford on this first day of spring, I pray the new season brings hope and sunnier days.

Keep #Chernihiv in your hearts and minds this Easter weekend as the horrific realities of Russia’s 39-day siege are slowly being revealed. There are few words to describe this tragedy. Вічная пам’ять. #StandWithUkraine️ #UkraineUnderAttaсk #StopTheWar.
In Chernihiv, the bodies and the bad memories keep coming. At least 1,300 people died during Russia’s 39-day siege of the city. My report from the city’s main morgue, where the refrigerator trucks were overflowing and bodies had to be piled on stretchers

Ukrainians will soon be risking their lives in a major counteroffensive to liberate their country. They see a military-political way to victory. The prospects; why we should support them; what we should be ready for. My latest analysis. #Ukraine.
