Is it time to consider seriously overhauling CPO legislation? Absentee landlords letting beautiful parts of our built heritage fall to ruin and catch on fire (in a rainstorm) should be given 28 days to sort buildings out before they’re handed back to the city. End of.

A fierce battle has arisen from the ashes of the tragic 2018 fire at the O2 ABC. On one side, the Northern Irish owners and English PBSA developers seeking a cleared site since 2019. On the other, politicians and conservationists determined to save its iconic frontage.

Why save the much-loved frontage of Glasgow's O2 ABC when you can finally raze the site and put up an uninspired and soulless student block? Because Scotland is in its Philistine Era, that’s why. ✍ Column via @HeraldScotland
