"I've never felt as beautiful as when I wore that wedding gown. I've never felt prettier before or since. That dress was a miracle." — Julie Andrews about the stunning wedding gown designed by Dorothy Jeakins for THE SOUND OF MUSIC (1965)
nobody will remember:
- your salary
- how “busy you were”
- how many hours you worked
people will remember:
- christopher plummer calling julie andrews "captain" in the sound of music (1965)
the wicked trailer had me thinking once again about when oomf emily said imagine a 60s version of the musical with julie andrews as glinda and barbra streisand as elphaba and i'm once again obsessing over what will never be
with edelweiss (chris plummer's version) being out i can't help but think about that time he surprised julie andrews during her final curtain call for victor/victoria on broadway by singing exactly that song for her, they don't make co-stars turned besties like them anymore 🤍
ship trope where character A is known to be cold and harsh but character B comes into their life and you can gradually see them fall for and become soft afff for them.. you are VERY BELOVED TO ME
60 years ago Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer put a stop to the filming of "Something Good" and made the scene look the way it does (in silhouette) because they couldn't stop laughing while shooting... to say that I adore them with my whole heart is an understatement
definitely did not cry, am doing fine, feeling very sane rn (oh my god this is so much better than the film version) (oh my god the way he's looking at her as he sings it with his actual voice) (invented chemistry)
IT’S FINALLY HERE! 🥹 For the first time ever, nearly 60 years after the film’s release, listen to Christopher Plummer’s ✨ORIGINAL✨ vocals for “Edelweiss” in The Sound of Music. (ICYMI: he was dubbed by Bill Lee in the 1965 film.)

i'm sure your fav actors duo is lovely but have they gone through a situation like holding the other's hands as they recorded the songs for their film bc one of them wasn't a professional singer and the other sensed their nerves? because they did that! my beloved grandparents 🩶

julie andrews adding an extra octave to "do re mi" and saying she did that because she could is such a power move like thank you queen for all you've done for the people, we are not worthy
the fact that for the filming of this scene chris plummer and julie andrews rehearsed enough so she'd really sound as angry as she was meant to be in the scene and according to her he said, "let's really have at it" makes the whole thing even better to me
julie andrews' filmography is so funny bc... do you want a musical? sound of music! disney movie? mary poppins! sex comedy? S.O.B! heavy drama? duet for one! romcom? princess diaries! camp musicals? she has plenty! superhero? aquaman! you like ogres? no worries we have shrek too
and you what the best thing is? robert wise & co. were like "she's our girl" after watching a few minutes of unreleased mary poppins footage, a back-to-back slay if i've ever seen one and she wasn't even a movie star yet
