The UConn-South Carolina women's basketball game nearly matched the Tottenham-Manchester City game's TV audience: 1.087 million v 1.109 million. Hoops was on Fox. Soccer was on NBC. via @SportsTVRatings .

I’m confused as to why Charles Barkley thinks WNBA players have “f***ed up” this season. 21 games have already surpassed a million viewers (a single game hadn’t done that since 2008). Regardless of any actual or perceived drama, the product is arguably more compelling than ever.

When you talk about “revenue” just remember the NCAA men’s basketball tournament had about a 40 year head start on the women’s. NBA came 50 years before the W. Despite a fraction of coverage, marketing, funding & resources the women’s game is growing along with equal opportunity.

Fun story: the epic Elite 8 game between NC State & UConn was played at Fairfield’s home arena. Lou Lopez Senechal was there, called it one of the best games she’s watched. That was before she was in transfer portal! Had no idea she’d end up with #UConn (& scoring 20 vs NC State).

I can’t stand what Marcus Morris did to Justin Anderson, even if you want to claim it reminds you of “90s style” Knicks ball. “Take no sh*t” by playing physical and maybe fouling hard sometimes, but not with an assault like that. So disrespectful and as he stated, unprofessional.

With news the NBA is finalizing its new TV rights deal, I find myself having anxiety over how much more money the WNBA will receive, as both league commissioners have implied joint negotiating. The first half of this W season has clearly shown a huge revenue increase is deserved.
