H3K9 mimic on SetDB1 ššš Wonderful to see this story out!!! A must read for all heterochromatin aficionados!
Crack the code: Have you ever wondered whether the āhistone codeā is only present on histones? Is it exciting that a similar ācodeā embedded in non-histone proteins is also involved in gene regulation? Check out our new preprint on a āhistone mimic codeā:

Wonderful news! š I hope this helps the newer generation of life scientists recognize that basic science and model organism work is worth it!
BREAKING NEWS The 2024 #NobelPrize in Physiology or Medicine has been awarded to Victor Ambros and Gary Ruvkun for the discovery of microRNA and its role in post-transcriptional gene regulation.

recently reviewed redfin data & in our area in the past decade cost of mortgage has increased 260% (assuming 10% down, median house, with 4% MOP at the time) and TT rank base salary about 30%. Without MOP I don't even want to do the math.
Between the potential elimination of MOP loans and the rather large reduction in pension benefits to faculty hired after 2013, junior faculty have been, and will be, at a significant financial disadvantage

Very cool finding congrats @peiwei_chen @AlexeiAravin and coauthors!
Genome defense requires innovation in specificity factors that recognize emerging selfish genes but does it require other types of innovations? We think so! Happy to share our preprint āEscalation of genome defense capacity enables control of an expanding meiotic driverā š§µ:
