State and local advocates - check out the tables at the bottom of this paper to understand how this would impact your state or local community. For example, CA folks: take note that the current house proposal could mean almost 100k people prevented from getting vouchers.

With the March 14 funding deadline approaching, the House 2025 approps bill seeks the deepest cut ever to housing vouchers. It would fall $4.3 B short of what’s needed and cause 750,000 fewer people to receive assistance.

One of the scariest things about these fires is how many more people may be realizing what hundreds of thousands of Californians and Americans already know - there is no housing safety net.

LA pals - be cautious, heed evac warnings (from personal experience), take care of each other. Thinking of you all and willing that wind to die down.

Excellent piece from @CalBudgetCenter underscoring the importance of California continuing to invest for the long term in housing and homelessness - especially given how much of recent progress came from federal funding which is at great risk to cuts.
