It was an ugly win. Facing a team missing two of their original first 6, we raced to an early 2-0 set lead, hoping for an early night. But Cignal showed grit and clawed their way back to tie the game at 2-2, before MVPons happened and we finished the game in 5 sets in front of a jampacked Philsports Arena. Lots of lessons to be learned despite the win, particularly addressing our slow starts and defensive patterns. Kudos too to Cignal for giving us a hard-fought match despite all the challenges, real and imagined. But as always, all the fans were treated to a hard-fought match between the grit of a young team hungry to prove themselves and re-establish their identity, and the heart of the defending champion who thru all of the armor chinks just refuses to lose. In spite of all the stress, anxiety and late finish, everyone left with a little something from both teams: joy, relief, pride, inspiration, hope for the future. In the end, the real winners last night were the fans.🩷
