This is how pitches used to be at Chepauk back in the day.
Hats off to Suresh Raina 🫡
Batting here was not as easy as he made it look like.
Mr. IPL for a reason.
Virat Kohli - 0 fifties in 8 matches
Rohit Sharma - 0 fifties in 7 matches
Ravindra Jadeja - 0 fifties in 7 matches
India's three major contributors with the bat are having a poor season in IPL 2022 so far😥

Kudos to Gautam Gambhir and management for going with Angkrish Raghuvanshi instead of Manish Pandey. Most other teams would've gone with Manish in the name of experience.
Some say Dhoni's 91* won us the WC Final
Some say Gambhir's 97 won us the WC Final
Maturity is realising that we wouldn't have played the World Cup 2011 Final if Raina hadn't played two crucial knocks in the QF and SF
Truly the unsung hero of the WC ❤️

The greatest innings in IPL history was played on this day, 8 years ago by Suresh Raina
87 runs -
None off inside edges
None off outside edges
No catch dropped
No luck
Just class
Guy is salty because Ashwin dropped him in 2018.
He legit scored 65 runs in the entire season at an average of 10 and strike rate of 89 🤣🤣
Even Axar Patel was sent to bat above him in one match 😭
Suresh Raina is just different. He first gave a chance to Virat Kohli in the Emerging Trophy where he was the captain. Every chutku player would have taken credit for that. But Raina 🫡
Never revealed this till now.
Virat acknowledges him 👏
The Captain who actually backed Ishan Kishan 👍
Gujarat Lions had openers like Brendon McCullum, Dwayne Smith, Aaron Finch and Jason Roy in 2017
Still Ishan Kishan opened in most of the matches
Now, even after making his International debut, he finds himself dropped...

MS Dhoni said "My connection with CSK, it's an emotional connect. It's not like a player who comes, plays a couple of months & goes back home, my strength is the emotional connection". [Dubai Eye 103.8]
Starc having a good game after ages and it's Bumrah who's getting trolled for no reason that too by his own countrymen. It's always the best who get the hate.
Earlier, CSK had a man who could get his team's score to 100 within the powerplay while chasing a 225+ target.
Now they have such a top 3 which scored 2 runs in 10 balls.
Irreplaceable
@ImRaina
🙏
200 Sixes in the Last Match
500 Fours in this Match
Will complete 200 IPL matches in the next match
What a legend 👏
Chinna Thala Suresh Raina has brought back all the smiles this season

Suresh Raina did it all without ever revealing it himself and running any sort of PR for this. This is what separates him from the rest. He helped him out genuinely. Kudos to Rinku Singh for acknowledging that in his prime time.
Rinku Singh said, "I'm a huge fan of Suresh Raina bhaiya. I follow and copy him, he's played a big role in my life and career. He helped me with cricket equipment even without asking when I needed it. He's more than a big brother". (TOI).
Chris Gayle holds the fastest 100 record. But whenever someone plays a blistering knock, people think of the player surpassing 25 balls 87.
In a world of 50s and 100s, Suresh Raina made 87 iconic. That's a bigger legacy than that of the innings itself.
@ImRaina
🔥
Tbh it's admirable from Surya this. Playing just 4 days after a heartbreaking Wc final loss and facing heavy criticism. But nothing has seemed to have affected his T20 game. Mental strength.
Forget the batting part.
This last ball is the reason why Axar should always be preferred over Jadeja. Jadeja would've said no straight up while Axar is willing to sacrifice his wicket for that 1 extra run.
Will be seeing India's T20 WC squad without Raina for the 1st time 😔
Only trophy he doesn't have
Wanted him to try his level best to be in the playing 11 by performing in 2020 and 2021 IPL
But took retirement, missed 1 IPL 🤦🏻♂️

Suresh Raina from 2008 upto 2011 World Cup : Average - 39, Strike Rate - 96.5, Runs - 2027
Yuvraj Singh from 2008 upto 2011 WC : Average - 36, Strike Rate - 90.5, Runs - 2116
Raina batted everywhere from No. 3- No 7. But apparently, Raina played on the back of favouritism
Whenever I discuss about cricketers who are bad human beings, people name Virat Kohli!!
Why?
Kids need to understand that being expressive or aggressive on the field doesn't mean that he is a bad human being!
He is a gem of a person!
Looks like 2008-2010 was the peak of this trio, batting at 4-7 positions.
Dhoni - 55 avg, 81 SR (62 inn)
Raina - 47 avg, 102 SR (48 inn)
Yuvraj - 40 avg, 92 SR (57 inn)
Raina didn't bowl much during this period but Yuvi has bowled 280+ overs and has 35 wickets at 4.87 economy
Used to play at 3 for CSK
Batted at 5 in this match when only 6 overs were left and still did a great job.
This versatility of Raina is the reason he was underutilized by India in T20 cricket.
Suresh Raina 40(19) vs England in 2nd ODI 2011, came in at 125/3 in 17 overs and took the score to 182/6 before he got out on the first ball of 23rd over. India lost the match but Raina played his part perfectly.

Suresh Raina is the only middle order batsman in the History of ODI cricket to have a strike rate of 100+ in successful Run Chases.
He has done that with the highest sample size & at 60+ Avg

Shane Watson was contemplating Retirement after 2017 IPL
But after what he did in 2018 and 2019 IPLs, he got so much love and his fanbase increased massively. He was 37+ at that time
You just never know when your life changes
There is still so much time
@ImRaina
😣
Rohit Sharma under the captaincy of Suresh Raina in ODIs :
9 matches
517 Runs
3 50s
2 100s
Average - 103.4
1 Man of the Series Award
🤯
Talk about getting the best out of your players 😎
43 in 2008 Final
73 in 38 balls in 2012 Final
25 balls 87 in the Qualifier 2 in 2014
CSK lost these matches although Raina gave his best.
This is the 1st time CSK won without much contribution from Raina
He deserves every bit of this win after all those heartbreaks 👍
Raina has scored 4 50s in a 5 match ODI series twice
Which is more than Kedar Jadhav's Total ODI 50s
But but Kedar Jadhav better because of some 5-6 good cameos 😭
Name the MOST RIDICULOUS CRICKET TAKE (by a celebrity/ someone from cricket Twitter/ your friends/ your partner/ your cat) that you have come across.
I’ll go first:
‘Ross Taylor should retire now’- a guy who got ghosted right after SHOCKING (Circa 2017)
Uttar Pradesh cricket supremacy has begun!
The man behind it, who inspired this generation of UP cricketers..
Garg, Rinku Singh, Upendra Yadav, Jurel,Tyagi, Juyal, Mavi to name a few..
On it's way to dominate the Domestic circuit
@UPCACricket
Just realised Mitchell Starc was wearing 'PH' black armband in the final.
In memory of Phillip Hughes. It has been nine years since he passed away. Truly never forgotten!

Gujarat Lions in 2016:
Dhawal Kulkarni
Praveen Kumar
2016 Jadeja
2016 Faulkner
DJ Bravo
Shivil Kaushik
Dwayne Smith
Not too much difference. But GL finished No. 1 after the league stage.
Difference -Captaincy by Suresh Raina🔥
One game he didn't lead, we saw what that team was
Really disappointed with Virat Kohli as a fan..
Considering how much of Support Raina has provided to him and is his well wisher, he could've atleast posted a more respectable tweet.. Atleast a photo
Afterall they've played 10 years of cricket together..
