@DJSnM People may not have a good idea about the probability of 2.3%. It’s about the same as the probability of getting double six from two dice, which is 1/36=2.78%. It’s not high but you’ve seen it many times.

@neozhaoliang This makes sense. I have a similar but different puzzle. There, solving it without any constraint is harder, because you don’t know where to start. I think to limit the difficulty, the official challenges come with constraints, which also serve as hints.

Recently I designed and 3d printed a coordinated-motion model. There are 4 identical pieces. When we assemble them, all pieces move simultaneously towards the center to form an octahedron. Then I spin it to disassemble.

@jon I think of it as an icosahedron with each triangle divided into 9 small ones. So we get 20*9=180. It's a different way to look at it.
