**Infosys Layoffs Spark Controversy** In a significant development, IT giant Infosys has laid off nearly 700 freshers from its Mysuru campus, leading to backlash from the IT employees' union, NITES. The union has officially complained to the Ministry of Labour & Employment, urging immediate action. The layoffs, which took place on February 7, involved batches of 50 trainees being called into discussions at 9:30 am. An anonymous trainee reported to MoneyControl that the process was discreet, with buses used to obscure the area where terminations occurred, ensuring other employees and US clients remained unaware. Trainees expressed feelings of "cruelty" and intimidation, particularly after waiting over two years post-graduation to start their careers at Infosys in September 2024, only to be let go after just six months. A particularly distressing incident involved a female trainee who was denied the request to spend one more night at the campus before heading back to Madhya Pradesh.
