@sunraysunray Some of the biggest pushback against this clip came from the center-left. Lots of ppl I've spoken with also praised @fshakir's comments on identity during the chair race. There's still a huge econ/populism gulf between these wings, but increasing anti-institutional consensus

@ZaidJilani @Tyler_A_Harper It’s silly to define left populism as “what Bernie said from 2015-2020.” Especially because his entire agenda (M4A especially) was conceived in a political and pre-inflation economic reality that doesn’t exist anymore. Left populism after Trump/JD is going to look different

@cliffnuttman @ettingermentum He ran to his cultural left in 2020 to try make up for his underperformance w/ Black voters in 2016.

@Roland00Address @lionel_trolling A) Not Thiel funded. I also had the author of a Peter Thiel critical book on. B) Yeah, JD was the first guest. I’ve also had plenty of episodes w/ ppl way outside the new right, like @lionel_trolling I’m totally down for critiques, just not bs ones

@justluciano Thanks, good idea. I'd like to see more left populists engage with my point. Sen. Chris Murphy pointed out last week that right populism could look hypocritical after 4 years of Elon, but I'm skeptical things'll be that simple in 2028

@TaylorLorenz @julesterpak She isn't talking about censorship. She's talking about trade reciprocity. We let China ban American tech companies because we were confident they'd move in a open direction. That's not happening. A fair trade/competition policy between countries isn't authoritarianism

@mattyglesias RIP to the dumbest realignment narrative of them all. It’s been frustrating watching left of center left spaces cope themselves into believing this wasn’t the inevitable outcome. I agree with post-neoliberalism at a policy level, but the political analysis was totally wrong.
