Earlier this year, I spoke with the excellent folks at
@logic_magazine
about my thoughts on the decentralized web, digital commons, and solidarity economics, and how we created
@COMPOSTmag
out of the intersections of these movements.
Today we release
@COMPOSTmag
's first issue, Fertile Grounds. 🪱✨
We're a magazine about the digital commons that publishes across the World Wide Web and Decentralized Web. Our first issue contains eight creative pieces and kaoani-inspired animated GIFs.
I’m proud to be part of the core organizing team behind
#DWebCamp
, an event to put many radical network builders in one place and imagine what kind of networked future we’d like to build for ourselves and our communities.

's plants to exit to community is an excellent read for those interested in governance.
The fact there's such a principled effort towards community platform control is awe-inspiring 🌼
So last week, I got back into the digital rights & trade work that I did with EFF for ~5 years. I quit 2 years ago to pursue other things.
But I was drawn back in to help
@burcuno
fight against the new & terrible ways this front has evolved. A thread.
Cory is the staunchest defender of authors' interests against the content industry's corporate behemoths.
His kickstarter is raising funds for his audio book in resistance to Audible (aka Amazon)'s iron grip on the industry — support him+get copies of his next book!
Really appreciate how this new article by
@kait_tiffany
maps the ideological differences, similarities, and linkages between DWeb and Web3.
Also stoked to see
@DigiDem
@COMPOSTmag
@dwebpress
mentioned as examples of what DWeb is about. :)

It's undeniable that "web3" has ideological connotations, in the same way "P2P" or "local-first" does. People align or disassociate with them to signal their beliefs on decentralization.
Maybe a benefit of "DWeb" is it's not hip, so not riddled with negative connotations. :)
