The IGIDR talk was about how far India's prosperous states can push low skilled manufacturing when it is low pay, physically hard, young educated locals do not want to take up and migrants cannot settle with families!

3/3 Because the pay per hour (or per piece - cleaning one house) is not high in manufacturing or low-skilled services, people can earn more by working a bit longer. But when that's taken away, that becomes a cap on how much people can earn, disincentivising work itself!

@hebbetu @ThePrintIndia @sanket Just for info. No journalist is involved in writing this article. Am not aware of the other story you mention. However, I am not surprised. Price discrimination is an age old concept.
