I can't think of the passing of any other person or creature that has affected me as deeply as the loss of our

yesterday. His heroic story needs telling and re-telling. I believe our whole relationship with nature need re-examining. Bless you precious creature!
@RCdeWinter
So totally staged! Even the blood was the wrong color...notice the attractive female Secret Service member-actors?? And the fist-pumping! Embarrassing, the entire thing.
@Bobby_Don_Welch
I beg every one of you to read this little story about 3 honey bees who survived because of the strength and determination of their comrades. Of course I wonder if there are 3 humans who would ever come to my aid in the same way...yes, kindness matters!
@BirdCentralPark
Wow!! Sounds like Flaco took a little trip, huh?
Will we still get the same coverage of his whereabouts?
Many thanks to all the folks keeping track of him for us!
@RCdeWinter
Just the kind of letters my son used to write from summer camp. Once 1 week from the end of camp he wrote me: "Dear Mom, Please send up my other sneaker."
@RCdeWinter
I remember it well. My father kept us from visiting public pools during one of the hottest summers on record. My parents were terrified of us getting polio. The vaccine was a blessing!
@DrTOMontgomery
Flaco - gorgeous creature, magnificent spirit - NYC loved you with all our hearts and cannot believe you're gone. You were in our prayers last night and the first thing we thought of today. We will cherish your beautiful brave spirit forever.
@RCdeWinter
I lost half my family to Hitler. I don't talk about it much. I did large monochrome paintings of victims. I call the series "Ghosts" I will post some soon. It's time someone took them off my hands.

Sea Change
As you handed me your soul
you said, “I used to think
I would go to the sea.
Now I will run to you.”
You said, “I used to think
I’d always be alone –
now I will run to you,”
as you kissed my saltwater cheeks.
I’d always be alone
if not for you.
As you

So good of you to save her! This is so satisfying to see I can't describe how much I hate plastic; I shred it and hope it will disappear but am open to suggestions!
And now, a little diversion from all the shouting… My take on Shakespeare’s

Shall I compare thee to a summer's day? (Sonnet 18)
Do not compare me to a summer’s day.
While, although lovely, temperate? Not I.

NY had a graffiti wave in the 70's. Clean-up was based on the idea that if any train car was "tagged" by a graffitist it would be cleaned within 2 hours or removed from service. No graffitist would "get up" again on a train. By '89, all cars in subway system were graffiti-free.
As I sit here remembering our long history – the ups and downs and where we are now, with our freedoms slowly but implacably being throttled by those who would enslave us to ancient bloody ideologies which have no place in our imperfect but still beautiful land – I’m listening to

Shannon my friend - I'd move that water bowl away from the electrical outlet - with so many active little creatures around...better safe than sorry. (I'm such a mother hen, aren't I?)

Ok. Pearls grow in very thin layers. The surfaces are never smooth. Rub 2 pearls from the same strand together. Scratchy or smooth feel? If scratchy they're probably the real thing.
