5 years ago today, CBC fired Ghomeshi, pushing me to speak out about violence against women. I didn’t know this would slash my psyche so deeply, that I would lose friends, quit TPB, BUT build an entirely new community, and use my voice and guts for better things. It’s been TOUGH.

Five years ago today marked the beginning of the R vs Ghomeshi trial. It still haunts me in the wee small hours. The crowns did nothing to prepare me. The defence was notoriously eviscerating. The serial assaulter sat mute while his dozens of victims watched awaiting the outcome.

Trudeau just asked the media to not mention the name of the shooter, nor publish his image, so the focus is not on his evil actions, but on the lives lived and left behind by his victims. I literally gasped, in the good way.

Every morning I get coffee from the local café so that I have a chat with somebody in person; it is usually two minutes. Once every 2 or 3 weeks I go for a walk with a friend in person for an hour. The rest of my life I spend alone. Covid isolation is trash.
