While tonight’s results didn’t go our way, I want to take a moment to express my immense gratitude to everyone who made this campaign possible. Thank you to my family, my team, and my supporters for believing in me and our fight to deliver for the middle class, protect our freedoms, and make sure there is a Miami-Dade for years to come. While we might not have won this race, the fight is far from over — Miami-Dade, I am still committed to you and to fighting for future generations. I am proud of the campaign we built, and I am proud of all of you for standing up to fight for a better Florida.

Thank you to @UTD_AFT1974 for providing this extremely important update on the laws and rules governing how ICE can approach our schools, the protections afforded to our students from ICE, and the Trump Administration’s attempts to close the U.S. Department of Education.  Miami-Dade County benefits greatly from hearing factual and timely information from our community leaders.

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of visiting residents of @LotusHouse1 with @tbsmbtweet Social Justice Network. They provide thoughtful programming & individualized attention to children several times a year. Thank you to Suzanne Meltzer and her team for inviting us to participate in this important program!

Today, we celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Let’s remember and honor Dr. King’s powerful message of equality and justice, and strive to make a positive impact in our own community.

Thank you to Temple Beth Sholom’s @tbsmbtweet Blessings in a Backpack program for addressing food insecurity and for contributing to our Miami Beach schools’ food pantries. The food pantries program was started two years ago with the generous support of so many. This program has a positive impact on our students and their families.

I had a great time attending the community presentation and meeting about childcare and early learning with the Miami-Dade Economic Advocacy Trust, David Lawrence, Jr., and several community organizations. We know our students’ chances of succeeding increase with high quality early childhood education opportunities.

If you can opt to vote in person at your precinct on Election Day, the election board must confirm that your vote by mail ballot has not been received.
