shelves are a good thing. My graphic novel and manga sections regularly look like a pack of wild dogs attacked them. It means they are engaging, reading on the spot, discussing with their friends. I would feel anxious if the shelves were neat & tidy.

When I was a kid I never had an author visit my school, I assumed they were all millionaires, that it was an impossible dream.
