We are excited to announce that @USDOT awarded $150 million to make the Cross Bronx Expway more pedestrian and public transit friendly. There’s much to do to address the injustices of the Robert Moses era, and this is a step in the right direction. Next we #CaptheCrossBronx.

Parks & open spaces are essential to NYC. We stand w/ @ny4p & call on @NYCMayor to #PlayFair. This was one of his campaign promises & we MUST hold elected officials accountable to the promises they make when they are trying to secure our votes! 1% for Parks! The time is NOW!
NY4P and the #PlayFairCoalition are calling on @NYCMayor and @NYCCouncil [@NYCSpeakerAdams @justinbrannan @CMBrooksPowers @CMShekarK] to allocate #1Percent4Parks and fund essential @NYCParks jobs and programs!

The 6.5-mile Cross-Bronx Expressway divides the borough in half. Robert Moses "tore out the hearts of a score of neighborhoods," Robert Caro wrote in The Power Broker, and the aftermath has meant "decades of neglect and disinvestment" in the communities.

Exhaust fumes from the heavily traveled Cross-Bronx Expressway have contributed to increased asthma rates in surrounding neighborhoods over the half-century since Robert Moses's plan for the highway disrupted and dislocated communities of color.
