@WillManidis Even this app at one point was a podcast app and at one point one of their investors was so certain the startup was going to fail that they pulled basically all their money when the founders gave them the option to (except $25k)

had no idea that Kendrick Perkins was thinking about becoming a venture capitalist
Kendrick Perkins says he was the real leader of the Thunder “It doesn’t mean your best player is your leader. When I was with the Thunder, it wasn’t KD, it wasn’t Russ, it wasn’t James, I was the one leading.” (Via ESPN / h/t @NBAStreamIG )

@jordihays Wonder sometimes if Tim Cook is just Steve Ballmer with better PR. And eventually they’ll hire a Satya to reinvigorate the company

Love reading old posts written by authority figures who were dead wrong Good reminder to continue to question “truths” Some gems from this Newsweek article in 1995 on why the Internet will fail: “Yet Nicholas Negroponte, director of the MIT Media Lab, predicts that we'll soon buy books and newspapers straight over the Internet. Uh, sure.” “Then there's cyberbusiness. We're promised instant catalog shopping—just point and click for great deals. We'll order airline tickets over the network, make restaurant reservations and negotiate sales contracts. Stores will become obselete. So how come my local mall does more business in an afternoon than the entire Internet handles in a month?”

Clearly not everyone can agree on that so do think it's an important distinction, hence the whole TikTok debate we've had as a country for years. To that extent that's obvious to you personally then great. On the model front, I understand your perspective. My whole point that I don't want popular consumer apps that can be used against us to be controlled by a foreign entity. One already has, and it was/is not good.

open source model good app bad If I were the CCP, I would make things open source, get a lot of plaudits about it, and have a trojan horse app where enough usage will lie Basically run a version of the TikTok playbook but modified - and hey our kids have never been more suicidal and had an ability to change opinions en masse by a state actor
