I've been hoping to spot a Bittern for about the last 6 years at Wicken Fen (I could have gone elsewhere but wanted to see one locally). I often hear them booming but can never seem to find them 😔
Then, yesterday, after an awful night's sleep and despite the
Introducing the Blue Tit Duckling🐤
Easily one of my favourite bird captures.
You can head off to try to find that rare bird but sometimes it's the things you see along the way that make the memory!

As we were walking up to the hide, I spotted a Kingfisher in the bushes then it got scared away by a diving Hobby.
Thinking our Kingfisher moment was over, we went into the hide and there this beauty was, perched even nearer on the other side.

Spring is a great time of year to spend a moment at Lackford Lakes taking in the views and to listen to the sounds of our birds. You can hear a reed warbler and black-headed gulls in this video

A Robin curiously watching me from the woodland at Lackford Lakes.
🐣 They are one of the few UK birds that can breed up to three times a season, maximizing their presence in suitable habitats.
Captured beautifully with BirdPack’s new Robin presets, enhancing every detail.
At Wicken Fen, the Stonechat demonstrates remarkable resilience and adaptability:
🪽 Unlike their aerial-hunting relatives, Stonechats capture insects by flitting from their perches to the ground, showcasing a distinctive foraging method.

A stunning Blue Tit perched and keeping watch.
Really pleased to be seeing lots of them this year, both in woodland and the garden.
Last year the numbers seemed to drop...
Not long until I see some fledglings I hope.

A beautiful Buzzard enjoying a breakfast feast of worms.
Unfortunately 😔 this field on our village, that has been allowed to rewild over the past few years, is up for development of new homes.

The Egyptian Goose, often seen at Ifield Mill Pond, isn't quite what it seems.
🏺 Highly valued in Ancient Egyptian culture, these birds are not true geese but closer to shelducks, noted for their aggressive territorial behavior and unique plumage.
A Marsh Tit in the woodland at Lackford Lakes, a tiny bird with a big personality.
Marsh Tits are known for their remarkable memory, able to relocate hidden food stashes months later.

BirdPack presets, every feather detail is captured.
Spotted: A Reed Bunting, a small bird with a big presence in the UK's marshes.
🌾 Known for their resilience, they adapt their diet with the seasons, shifting from insects to seeds
🥚 They often play an involuntary host to cuckoo eggs, raising the young cuckoos as their own
Captures from a week in the New Forest 🤩 🌲
Highlight was watching the 'Oyster Catcher' turn 'Crab Catcher', and spotting a Nightjar last night 👌🏼
