@RealGeoffBarton @PeterHyman21 @FT "increasingly employers don't ask for qualifications". Surprising. In the public sector the big trend of past 10-15 yrs is credentialisation, with police, social workers, nurses & paramedics now requiring degree or equiv. These are huge employers of good, future-proofed jobs

@gavinantonyrice I wonder if it is linked to the shift to phones that are only compatible with blue tooth headphones, which are more expensive and require more personal organisationsl skills than the old wiry ones

@TonyDowson5 Cab rank rule is a semi-fiction anyway. Barristers can and do wriggle out of cases they don't want to do. They say they're too busy, they dont have expertise in that exact area, or they quote a prohibitive fee.

@drdavidajames @Miss_Snuffy @bphillipsonMP What's strange is Labour makes no effort to back up its critique. A decent researcher could easily dig out the no. of free schools that, like Michaela, don't offer music, art or drama. Or the no. of academies in £ trouble. But they haven't. Is it complacency or a lack of nous?

@jonpayates What if the underperformance, unhappiness is the cause of recourse to social media not the other way round?

@Channel4News For secondary school kids I wonder if the policy of diverting as many young offenders as possible away from the criminal justice system, secure children's homes & young offenders institutions over the past 10-15 years is a factor? Means more violent young ppl in circulation

@JSMilbank This is that poll of 3000 adults of all ages right? Do we know how many respondents were actually Gen Z?

@thetimes It says the findings are from a survey of 3000 adults of all ages and doesn't say how many of the respondents are Gen Z. Without that information the "finding" is meaningless

@SAshworthHayes Odd as presumably most of the failings happened under the previous govt, which you'd think Labour wld want to highlight. Their reaction suggests that they want to avoid a policy shift towards a more enforcement oriented approach & greater use of coercive powers.

@oldbooksguy And Crime and Punishment struck me as taking a pop at radical leftism and so conservative in that sense

@AntiGrowthCoa @PolitlcsUK Why shouldn't they share it? It's what he looks like. Why can't we know that? Secrecy should never be the default in the criminal justice system

@PB_1961 @BBCBreakfast I see that but at the same time like many other households in and around London if me and my partner both commuted to work that would be £560 a month out of our budget. We have 2 kids. It is a massive imposition that pro-office advocates rarely acknowledge

@JohnRentoul He's not a combative politician. His MO is to tell audiences what they want to hear, secure their agreement, and then once in post try to bounce them into following a different agenda. You can only do that so many times before you run out of road

@raw_gordon @yuanyi_z @Scott_Wortley Nah. Doesn't actually say it's Hitler's diary. Could just be a diary with stuff about him in it.

@Sam_Dumitriu @KeithMa95432918 Agree. Unless there's evidence that unqualified teachers can't hack it, it's a bizarre thing to prioritise. A bigger problem is teacher shortages, which credentialist entry barriers will make worse.
