my favorite part of sweeney todd was when everyone was dead and then all we heard in the theater was girls screaming outside for the jonas brothers across the street
a very sweet mother and college theatre professor from duluth, mn came in today asking for recommendations for scenes she can have ready for nonbinary students in her class and she was saying things like:
just turned on the jimmy awards it’s so annoying actually that some kids get to do the great comet in high school and i had to play little orphan annie when i was 16
bad cinderella does do one of my FAVORITE things which is that they have a random older woman in the ensemble who does very little but with the obvious understanding being that she understudies the two mean mommies
i just wrote “ur telling me sjb is serving GREEN BEANS” as if anyone would understand that by that i meant “stephanie j block is singing elphaba riffs in the musical into the woods on broadway”

“i just want them to feel immediately welcomed and loved even if i don’t know everything right away! i don’t want them to feel different from cis students as far as available material” and i tried really hard not to cry
i did cry but privately and i’m just so grateful for women like her who are teaching and raising children in the middle of the country and are teaching like *this*
someone asked me “what is your goal? like is it this? you just wanna make coffee and see musicals?” and i sort of laughed it off like “haha i don’t have time to talk about this” but like
she bought 5 plays and she told me this was a highlight of her trip and thanked me so much for my kindness and i could not express enough to her how speaking to her about this affected the very core of my being
ok i just got my negative PCR test!! which means! i can tell you!!
tomorrow i will be working the red carpet of the tony awards and will be able to fulfill my dream of telling you what all the ladies are doing and wearing and saying
it’s coming out day and i like to tell this story so deal with it:
when i finally (finally) told my mom i was gay she almost immediately said “you know what they call a baby born after a miscarriage? a rainbow baby— you have always been my rainbow baby”
also! plz don’t have a conversation with your barista about this. i am sorry for asking “how are you” but it is my job. thank you for being honest but i also *cannot* have this conversation the entire day. i can barely have it once. plz don’t make me.
@milo2120
most people associate lisa ann walter with her character in the parent trap or at least hold a lot of nostalgia for her specifically in that movie and her character in the film dresses like this!
"I WAS BEING SARCASTIC!!!" - the president of the united states about something he said about a virus that has killed over 200,000 people in this country
how do actors and front of house staff feel about this mask thing and also who told them this information and who is helping them i am genuinely wondering
i can’t believe jeanna a standby performed on the tony awards but annaleigh and betsy did not perform on the tony awards why does the tonys hate women in perfect blonde wigs
i was crying so much about stephanie j block at the end of into the woods that i forgot my sweater in the theater steph if you see this tweet can you look for my sweater tomorrow
those of us who love older character actresses really being hung out to dry w/ this into the woods broadway transfer casting announcement not including jack’s mom or cinderella’s stepmother

little kid on the train having a meltdown and his mom like “it’s ok it’s ok you’ll be ok you’ve got this” and in between his soft little sobs he’s like “i don’t got this” and what a fucking mood my man
two separate people at work alerting me personally that [redacted middle aged lady on broadway] would be in this afternoon briefly after my shift if i wanted to stick around and say hi
in great comet when pierre says “if i were not myself but the brightest handsomest best man on earth and if i were free i would get down on my knees this minute and ask you for your hand and for your love”
what is the most devastating line from a musical of all time and why is it "I think there's a time to come to New York and a time to leave. Enjoy your party"
say what you want about patti lupone getting hit in the head with a bouquet of flowers because you know whose entire life REALLY flashed before their eyes in that moment? jennifer simard’s
a middle aged white guy from wisconsin came up to the coffee bar and i said “what can i get for you” and he said “well i’m a little bit of a fancy boy” and i said “i’m a fancy boy myself so i can probably help you” and he laughed and now we are best friends
i’m not saying it’s not complicated and difficult but also absolutely fucking wild that the broadway league just goes
we’re closed :( :( :( :(
with seemingly NO other effort to find or make ways to sustain the people and the art form (!) that broadway is made of
every night i tell myself "i will go to bed at a reasonable time" and every night i go see a musical and get home and lay in bed staring at the ceiling mind absolutely reeling for hours because of how much i love musicals :(
I’m sure someone else has said this more eloquently than I ever will, but: changing Bobby to a woman is the only “gender swap” that needs to be done in Company. That single change makes it more poignant and modern and relatable than the original ever could have hoped to be!
went to get tater tots for lunch and the guy goes “is that everything ma’am?” and i said “MA’AM?” and he immediately so chill no worries in the whole world said “oh sorry is that everything sir?”
i’ve often told myself “the end of into the woods won’t always put me in my feelings about having a dead parent” but here i am headed home after seeing into the woods and i am in fact in my feelings about having a dead parent
