Take a trip to Natchez, MS. There is a historical bar by the Mississippi River with a room named after Mark Twain. Allegedly, Mark Twain stayed at that bar with a room. It is also a gathering for locals to discuss policies and local affairs and to be lectured about the Deep South.

The most complicated border State to understand pertaining the Civil War. it is not Texas or any other States. it is Missouri. I kid you not. Oklahoma is not the South. Oklahoma was the dumping ground of American Indians, unfortunately. The Union and the Confederacy understood the importance of the Indian Territory for the expansion of slavery or lack of it. Oklahoma is fascinating with its zillions drinking salons, prostitution, gun fights, and diverse American Indian tribes and its tribal assassinations Texas is on the waiting list.

@HistoryVareck OMG! You are absolutely correct! Hahahahaha It was an interesting encounter, and an experience that I will never forget as I was lectured about the difference between the South and the Deep South. The same happened in Louisiana last year.
