I have tremendous respect for Speaker Johnson, Chairman Smith and my House Republican colleagues.   I hope they can find a way forward on a bigger budget reconciliation bill, and we can fulfill the promises we made to the American people by securing our border, rebuilding our military, making President Trump’s tax cuts permanent, as well as meaningfully reducing wasteful government spending.   The Senate’s budget resolution begins the process of a bill to provide money to Border Czar Tom Homan to continue to secure our border and deport vicious criminals. He is running out of the funds necessary to implement President Trump’s plan, and we cannot afford to lose momentum. And God knows given the threats we face in the world, we also need to beef up our military.   The Senate approach accomplishes both and will be fiscally responsible, offsetting all new spending. I hope the House will move forward soon, but we cannot allow this moment to pass, and we cannot let President Trump’s America First Agenda stall.

To those who voted for and support real border security and a stronger defense in a troubled world, help is on the way. This budget resolution jumpstarts a process that will give President Trump’s team the money they need to secure the border and deport criminals, and make America strong and more energy independent.

I look forward to working with OMB Director @russvought and congratulate him on being confirmed by the Senate.    Russ is highly qualified, and served in the same capacity in the first Trump Administration. I believe he is the right man at the right time to get our fiscal house in order.

I appreciate President @realDonaldTrump's bold executive action to sanction the International Criminal Court. The ICC is a rogue organization with a corrupt prosecutor who has violated the spirit of the law regarding prosecutions against Israel’s Prime Minister and former Defense Minister. Israel is not a member of the court. The ICC has gone off the rails by exercising jurisdiction over a country that is not party to the Rome Statue. I fear they will not stop at Israel. Under the legal theory being used against Israel, it is very conceivable the ICC will one day come after an American President and Defense Secretary for allegations of war crimes made by adversaries. President Trump’s sanctions against the court are a necessary deterrent to protect American military personnel and others. These sanctions will be a strong signal to the world regarding the legitimacy of the court’s actions against Israel.

I very much appreciated yesterday’s briefing Middle East Envoy Steve Witkoff gave to Republican Senators regarding the status of ceasefire and hostage negotiations, and all the complexities associated with it. Steve gave the best overview I’ve heard about how all of this works and the challenges that we will face regarding Phase 2. He emphasized President Trump’s commitment to getting all the hostages out and supported the idea that Hamas cannot be in charge of Gaza – politically or militarily – ever again. Steve has hit the ground running and has proven to be a very effective representative for President Trump on all things Middle East.

I had a very good meeting with Prime Minister Netanyahu and his team in Washington this evening.   The main takeaway from the meeting:  ➡️ Hamas remaining politically or militarily viable in Gaza is a non-starter.   If Hamas, the perpetrator of the horrific October 7 attack and the carnage that ensued, is still in charge then this will have been a strategic failure — not only for Israel but for the world.   The second major takeaway is that the existential threat a nuclear armed Iran presents to  Israel is real and growing. The problem of a nuclear armed Iran must be dealt with decisively or we will all regret it.

Great meeting with @GovMikeHuckabee and his wife Janet, who have been dear friends for a long time.   There is no better person on the planet to be ambassador to Israel at this crucial time than Governor Mike Huckabee. He is one of the most knowledgeable people about the Middle East and the threats that Israel faces, and he is an incredibly close confidant to President Trump. The sooner he is confirmed, the better for the world.

To those who believe that Republicans should fulfill their promises on border security, mass deportation of criminal illegal aliens: I agree. That is why the Senate @BudgetGOP Committee will be moving forward next week to give the Trump Administration’s Border Czar, Tom Homan, the money he needs to finish the wall, hire ICE agents to deport criminal illegal immigrants, and create more detention beds so that we do not release more dangerous people into the country. This will be the most transformational border security bill in the history of our country. It’s time to act.

In 1983, 241 U.S. servicemembers were killed by Iranian-backed suicide bombers at the Marine Corps barracks in Beirut, Lebanon. Ronald Reagan stationed these Marines, sailors and soldiers in Lebanon as part of a plan to stop warring factions in the region. As much as I admire Ronald Reagan, this was one of his worst decisions. I fear putting American troops on the ground now in the midst of a raging Middle East will yield the same results as it did in 1983. It is always best to try to learn from the past.

I applaud President Trump for choosing Pam Bondi to be our next Attorney General. As I said when she was first nominated, Pam is an outstanding choice.   With her confirmation today, Pam is ready to hit the ground running. She will put an end to the weaponization of law that has been a trademark of the Justice Department for the last four years. Pam will also make sure that our laws are fairly enforced, and for terrorists and criminals, Pam will be their worst nightmare.   I look forward to working with her as she transforms the Department of Justice and marches America toward a new era of prosperity and safety.
