NFTs gonna come back but what about Historicals ? Over the next market cycle, we're likely to see a surge in crypto prices that could have a profound impact on NFTs. As liquidity flows back into the market, historical NFTs are positioned to gain attention, I believe. Historically significant NFTs often gain value when the market trends upward. Many early projects not only represent digital art but also the foundation of the NFT space itself. Highlighting some of the earliest and most culturally significant collections can help us understand this better. 1. Mooncats // August 9, 2017 @mooncatrescue Mooncats were the first cat-themed NFTs on Ethereum, released with a supply of 25,440. Inspired by CryptoPunks but with a twist Mooncats were generated on-chain, creating a provably rare experience. While CryptoPunks were pre-generated, Mooncats allowed for a different minting process where rarity emerged during discovery. 2. CryptoKitties // November 23, 2017 @CryptoKitties CryptoKitties brought NFTs into the mainstream by introducing the concept of breeding digital assets. The project gained so much traction it famously congested the Ethereum network in late 2017. CryptoKitties was also the first project to implement the ERC-721 token standard, which remains the backbone of modern NFTs. They are also working on new stuffs ! 3. Rare Pepes // September 9, 2016 @pepe__wtf Rare Pepes play a foundational role in the crypto art movement. Created on the Counterparty protocol, these digital cards combined internet culture with blockchain rarity. The collection includes only 1,800 NFTs, with Series 1 paying tribute to Bitcoin's creator, Satoshi Nakamoto. 4. CryptoPunks, Pride Punks, and V1 Punks @cryptopunksnfts @pridepunks2018 @v1punks CryptoPunks, launched by Larva Labs, pioneered the PFP trend with 10,000 generative avatars. The collection has since inspired derivatives like Pride Punks, a community-driven collection emphasizing diversity. V1 Punks emerged from the rediscovery of the original, buggy CryptoPunk smart contract, further emphasizing historical significance. Why Historical NFTs Matter Now As crypto markets heat up, historical NFTs often gain visibility due to their provenance and importance in the evolution of the space. They aren't just collectibles, they represent the milestones in blockchain's cultural history. While these are just a few examples, there are many more historical projects predating Ethereum, sparking ongoing debates about what truly defines a "historical NFT." The market's next wave of interest could shine a spotlight on these projects, driving both conversation and volume. Gm, Here is a breakdown of how Player's chose their path and how many have been released for our Public Drawing on Feb 18. The Public Drawing amount of 65 is based on the amount we had allotted, the 12 voluntarily released by Player choice, and 18 that inactive Players automatically released. When the drawing opens on the 18th, anyone can enter to purchase, and 65 people will be randomly chosen from the entrants. The Masquerade will begin Feb 21. To answer some questions: we are not doing an auctioned drawing where highest offers get the spots, not offering any more Guest Spots, no priority queueing, or anything like that. A Mask of Luci will be identical for Player's who collected, invited Guests, and Public Guests. Beyond these numbers: -There are 50 Council Masks for each of the Skulls of Luci who (this remains the only guaranteed way to receive a Mask until Masquerade begins). A note on Council Masks. The Guest List was not chosen by them, As they chose the champions of the Monument Game, I wanted to shift the choice outwards solely to the Players. -A portion are being invited by the people who have helped to make Masquerade what it is and will be made clear next week as to their purpose. -A portion I hold onto for the future of the Masquerade as though its first form is a networked collision, its first physical exhibitions and gathering are already under way for this year, along with the evolution of the collection beyond the Masquerade's close. Guests will be able to enter and collect their Mask on Feb 10-12. Cannot thank everyone who has participated and supported in this so far, enough. Next week I will be sharing much more of the Masquerade including the 1/1 all of the Masked Guests will be entering.
