It’s less so that it’s innately unsafe and more-so that pop singers often aren’t trained to sing “properly.” Peak vocal technique requires a knowledge of biology/inner-acoustics to prevent strain. Also, a pop sound is typically “brighter,” which lends to more tightness.
Can singers expand on why pop singing isn’t safe? I remember Ari talking about how singing in a healthier way.
