Our
#R4Today
guest editor tomorrow is Andrew Malkinson.
Andrew spent 17 years in prison for a crime he didn't commit. He was cleared in July.
We've been working with him on his guest edit & Basil's been there every step of the way too.
Set your alarm 6am
@BBCRadio4
From our first meeting, to what came out of the speakers today, it’s been a dream to work closely with
#ABBA
’s Björn on his
#R4Today
guest edit.
And I’m sad it’s over.
If you missed it, give it a listen.
I've just recorded something for Björn's
#R4Today
guest edit and I can honestly say it's the most enjoyable half an hour I have ever spent in a studio.
If the guests involved in that can keep it a secret it'll be a miracle.
Listen on
@BBCr4today
30th December.

Another
#R4Today

Tomorrow, Björn Ulveaus edits the Today programme on

#Eurovision

Just video called my parents who are isolating. They are now having a date night indoors every Saturday night. Last night they dressed up, met up in the hall, had tea (you might call it dinner/supper) and a watched a movie, the lion king 😍
Our guest editor today is Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe, who was detained for six years in Iran before being freed and coming home nine months ago
Her programme will explore freedom - through food, comedy and sport

Did you hear Basil on
#R4Today
this morning telling
#ABBA
's Björn the story behind the 1974 UK Eurovision jury and the nul points?
Not to be missed. Listen on
@BBCSounds
Björn was our guest editor on
@BBCr4today

Our Christmas guest edited programmes start tomorrow on

Over the last eight weeks myself
@Laura_cooper
@jadelauriston

There's so much editing left to do, but we will get there!
It is wonderful that Mina Smallman's guest edited programme has been recognised by
@NYFRadioAwards
Mina's daughters Bibaa and Nicole were murdered in 2020. She used her
#R4Today
to talk about women's safety and equity in how victims are seen.
Looking forward to working at the other end of the day today. I’m producing The Today Debate this evening ‘Ukraine: Where’s the Line?’ presented
@MishalHusain
who will be joined by an expert panel and an audience. Live at 8pm on
@BBCRadio4
&
@BBCSounds
This year there were seven

A few years ago I rang Nicholas Parsons to ask him to come on
#r4today
I couldn't reach him, but left a message. Some weeks later he rang me out of the blue to apologise! He'd been on a cruise and told me all about it. It was wonderful, we chatted for ages. A true gent.
"His story was so extraordinary, I've been living with it for 25 years."
Actor Paterson Joseph tells
#R4Today
why he's fascinated by Charles Ignatius Sancho - the first black person to vote in Britain - and shows
@BBCNickRobinson
the portrait hanging above his dining table.
Delighted to see
@insaf_abbas
win the Rising Star of Year Award at the
#bbcnewsawards
in memory of Hanna Yusuf. Congratulations Insaf, great to see you shine from the other side of the office. Amazing recognition for your hard work.
Amazing to have been shortlisted in two categories of the
@NYFestivals
for
#R4Today
guest edited programmes. The series itself has made the list for the Best News Feature and Mina Smallman’s programme is amongst those up for consideration in the best human interest category.

I am so proud of our team
@laura_cooper
for her sublime radio editing skills and continued support,
@HazelCMorgan

Grateful too for the extra help from

There's been a bra on the fence near my parent's house for over a decade. I always pointed it out and frequently asked why they hadn't moved it. Today, I noticed it had gone and I can't stop thinking about where it might be.
Sometimes guests aren't available to come on your programmes, but you end up having wonderful unexpected conversations. Today I've been chatting to
@DameDeniseMina
about Brecht. Just an average Thursday

The most exciting school night I have had for a very long time. I was finally able to put the summer I spent learning the lyrics to my mum’s ABBA Arrival tape to good use. A sensational show and thanks to

I’ve spent the morning defrosting the freezer and as a result am about to eat my most unhealthy meal of the year. Pizza, pigs in blankets, chips and ice cream. It’s like a child’s birthday party.
I didn’t have pancakes tonight, but I did eat half of an enormous box of milk tray left over from Christmas. Overall I feel I’ve still met the brief of Shrove Tuesday. If anything, in calories I’ve exceeded it.
When I was at school I’d use Rapper’s Delight to make sure I was on time for things.
My whole day was broken down into plays of Rapper’s Delight.
2 x Rapper’s Delight = Shower/hair/ make-up
3 x Rapper’s Delight = homework
I mean, this was pretty fun to record.
In many ways too fun. I had to cut my very loud laugh out several times.
Join us for guest edit number two tomorrow
#R4Today
I had a few hours off last night...but we've still got one
#R4Today
guest edit for you

I’ve just heard the word ‘cob’ to describe what I call a ‘roll’ (sometimes a ‘bap’) on

A reminder you can still listen to that incredible first meeting between Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe & Andy Murray on her Today Programme guest edit

My grandad collected me from school on the day Harold Bishop went missing. This is how the conversation went:
Grandad: Harold's dead.
Me: What happened?
Grandad: Harold on cliff. Wave comes. No Harold.
No emotion. Amazing.

Myself,

We then had the privilege of visiting him at home just before Christmas to finish his programme.
It's 18 years since I refused to get out of bed and made my poor mum go and get my A level results, before putting on black lipstick, lashings of eyeliner and my slipknot hoodie in celebration.
