Some personal news. This week I'm back from parental leave and starting in a new role as Chief of Staff to @MaryamMonsef at the newly formed Department for Women and Gender Equality. Excited to see what we can do together to support women's equality and opportunity!.
Today is an historic day for gender equality in Canada. In 1971, the first Minister of Status of Women was appointed. Today, I became the last Minister of Status of Women, and the first Minister for Women and Gender Equality.

Our government is making prescription contraceptives, including birth control and IUD devices, free - that means nearly nine million women will be able to access reproductive care whenever they need it. On the other hand, Conservatives want to restrict a woman’s right to choose.
