did nothing to save FOM for young Scots . So angry.
Just attended a very positive seminar on the economics of Scottish independence. Some key take home messages: Scotland possess 20-30% of the UKs natural wealth and 8.4% of the population. Scotland is an export powerhouse and maintains a strong surplus in exported goods.
I am sure that I am not the only person who feels absolutely infuriated by Kier Starmer coming to Scotland to tell us what he will do with our resources while allowing us no ability to have a democratic choice on our future. Shows complete contempt for 50% (at least) of scots.
Everybody in Scotland, regardless of whether they support, SNP, the GRR, devolution or independence should be concerned about our lack of democracy. We need to fight this together. Don't know if people see this but please retweet. And tag
@BjCruickshank
#DemocracyForScotland
Just for the record-for those that are saying labour may have a resurgence in Scotland-as an ex labour voter i will never support labour again. Reasons-1. lack of recognition of democracy for Scotland 2. stance on Brexit. 3 lack of wish for electoral reform. They are Tory light.
Everything we were told would happen if Scotland left the UK in 2014 has happened on steroids as part of the UK. And it will get worse with Truss. It time to put this wrong right.
#ScottishIndependence2023
Where is GB energy? It was ready to go on day 1 no? I absolutely resent having to pay more again while living in an energy rich country where the resources are being wasted and plundered. This is not acceptable.
1/ Today’s announcement from Ofgem will be worrying news for families across the country.
The expected rise in the price cap is yet another consequence of the toxic legacy left by the previous government.
Scottish independence is not nationalism. It is the wish to decide your own future. The wish to have a country with the policies and values you and your countrymen continually vote for.
I am perplexed as to why the media are all over SNP funding and are very excited about a motorhome but they seem to have no interest in Russian money and the Tory party.
@ScotTories
need to explain.
I for one do not want Labour or Tories in power in Scotland. If you look at what the SNP run Scottish government has done compared to what the Tories have done and what Labour are offering, there is no comparison.
It amazes me people think Scotland cannot survive as an independent country when Sunak comes to declare we will thrive using the oil in Scottish waters and Starmer comes to say they will use money from Scottish renewables. If we do not change the model , Nothing will change.
Is it just me who is furious that Scotland now has a surge of a variant that would not have been here if we had been able to control our borders. We made people quarantine in hotels. But the delta variant now dominant. Boris Johnson so incompetent, we are at constant risk.
Governing is not always easy but making and explaining difficult decisions is what we are elected to do. I won’t shy away from that responsibility. Today I voted with the Government for the reasons below 👇
SNP is our only vehicle to independence. I wish those that claim they want independence but spend their waking lives attacking SNP would realise this. And those that want indy but vote Labour, who cling to a backward 2 party system. SNP need to shout much louder.
On way home from the
@theSNP
convention. Very positive and unifying message. Next election will be fought with independence as the core message. A win will be mandate for SNP to start the process of independence. Including paving the way for re entry into the EU.
Unionists conflate independence with SNP. They are not one in the same. Many people support independence who do not support the SNP. Voting SNP is vehicle to independence, once we are there, I hope that there will be many parties competing for votes. That is a healthy democracy.
Scotland has oil. Scotland should be a rich country with money to fund hospitals and infrastructure. Instead, as part of a one sided union, the money was squandered.
@LabourPRTY
allowed this. Independence the only way to ensure our resources are used for the people of Scotland
74% of Scots voted for a devolved parliament to take control of Scottish affairs. By bypassing Holyrood, Labour are again denying Scottish democracy. We may as well not vote here because clearly, like brexit, what Scotland wants does not count.
I work with people who come to Scotland from all.over the world and most think it is an amazing place. Clean, safe. Friendly people, with good services. And a great place to bring up a family. I do not recognise the country we are portrayed to be by

Great press conference from

Why is this such a trigger for so many. Scotland being represented on the world stage can never be a bad thing. Let's face it, apart from taking our resources, uk gov act like we don't exist.

They discussed first-hand experience of

The whole of today anti-SNP politicians and media have been setting the agenda over the bridge and other things. We spend the day retweeting their absurdities and defending. We need to start ignoring them and setting the agenda.
That's why they did absolutely everything they could to bring her down. Bullies. Every single one. Unfortunately for them, they will not change the drive for

NEW: Tory ministers were 'afraid' of confrontation with the 'formidable' Nicola Sturgeon during the Covid pandemic, the First Minister of Wales has said

Imagine if we could sell this electricity, invest in Scttish infrastructure then allow the people to gain the benefits. With independence, we could choose how the revenue is spent and distributed. As part of the UK, we cannot give winter payments to pensioners.
Scotland is the only country in the World to have a ‘superhighway’ which only goes one way ie Scotland to England.
Wake the feck up Scotland!
Our green energy resources are being stolen in plain sight.
And we will still be charged the most for electricity and standing charges.
Who wants their farm produce to come from the other side of the world-this is preposterous and goes against any idea of a green economy.
#indyref2
We need out
@NicolaSturgeon
. It is becoming urgent.
@ScottishLabour
I have had reason to use sNHS a lot recently, including A&E. All brilliant. The constant abuse that labour give sNHS needs to stop as it is putting people off seeking help when they need it. Yesterday we phoned 111 at 8.30 and were seen in a clinic at 10.15. Dont listen to labour
@BBCPolitics
The SNP are offering very good policies. The chaos as far as I can see is caused by the UK establishment trying to bring them down.
#ScottishIndependence2024
@STVNews
is a disgrace. The overall perception of the budget on Lunchtime news is money for the rich. Scottish news says workers better off and Nicola Sturgeon says this is for the rich. As if it is just her opinion. Then they give no further analysis. We need better TV News.
📈 New figures show that by 2026/27 Scottish generators will pay around £465 million a year in transmission charges.
💰 Generators in England and Wales will receive a subsidy of over £30m a year.
🏴🍃 Scotland has the Energy, we just need the Power.
Looking at news this morning-Nothing has changed. One side blaming the other for the mess the UK in. MSM talking about side issues and meanwhile the people of the UK are getting screwed. I truly believe an
#independentScotland
could do better than this. Time for real change.
Anybody else extremely bored with the change message from Labour. It has no substance. They are doing a psychological experiment on us thinking if they say it often enough, people will vote for them without thinking. Hopefully, we have more nous in Scotland!
This js an extremely important point. Independence is about growing Scotland in a way that benefits Scottish people. Using our resources to benefit society. A strong society makes a strong economy. This idea is lost in UK.

This is so dissapointing. Taking away investment in Scottish tech while taking the money from our energy resources. We need

so that our resources can generate funding for these types of schemes.
This is a really good read. Britain is not a nation. England cannot find its own identity because it holds on to that old narrative, "England ,,,,,,holds other nations prisoners against their will.
@PeterAdamSmith
@itvnews
This was a very nasty, line of questioning. You take no account the complexities of the issues and trying to get a yes no answer demonstrates that all you wanted was headlines and to force division. No thought for either prisoners or the Trans community
Disappointed that tonights
@Channel4News
consistently talked about CV incidences going up in the UK. Incidence in Scotland was down today from yesterday. Similarly, spoke about rules that applied to England being for the nation. Clarity for all parts of the UK is key.
Just watched these exchanges. How
@NicolaSturgeon
keeps going with sharp, informed answers on multiple topics day in day out is amazing. And for all the indy supporters doubting her-she is introducing the concept of independence at exactly the right time.

The attacks on Nicola Sturgeon were relentless after that and they continue. It makes me so angry that hidden forces are trying to thwart what Scotland wants.
"The State of the Union" makes very interesting reading, not least the 12-point lead for Yes. Carried out during pandemic it showed very strong support for and trust in
@NicolaSturgeon

He gives no compromise. Not willing to work together now. Resetting devolution means taking control of the Scottish Parliament away. Be careful. They are wolves in sheep's clothing.

Scottish Labour's Anas Sarwar says his party would "reset devolution" and improve relations between Holyrood & Westminster

Look around the world. Countries who are rich in energy are generally rich. Why not Scotland? Those that say we can't benefit because the generators etc are owned by companies, That is the same the world over. These people want years more austerity for Scotland. No vision.
Imagine if we could sell this electricity, invest in Scttish infrastructure then allow the people to gain the benefits. With independence, we could choose how the revenue is spent and distributed. As part of the UK, we cannot give winter payments to pensioners.
This mi-reporting is very dangerous and causing harm in the Scottish Muslim community. They are doing the work for the far right in making people scared.
This is bollocks. Brexit has driven many out of Scotland. People are mostly happy to pay a bit more tax so their children go to uni tuition free, for example.
Have come home to the witch hunt of Nicola Sturgeon. Again. Surely there was far more to focus on than whattsapp messages. What about emails. Why not ask about actual decisions that were made and evident. Was anything learnt. Last chance to bring down NS.
‘We have let you down, and I am so sorry.’
— Scotland First Minister Humza Yousaf’s message to the Palestinian people in Gaza.

@devisridhar
This approach allowed my elderly parents, who had not left the house in 3 months, to have lunch with us today at an outdoor cafe. Neither them nor me would be comfortable doing this if virus levels any higher. Thank you for pushing strategy. Fingers crossed we manage even lower.
This is actually a very important point. Voters in Scotland sent MPs who disagreed with Brexit, with child benefit cap, tax cuts for the rich etc . However, we have no voice. What Scottish voters want did not count. This is the biggest argument ever for
#Independence
The question people across Scotland will be asking this year...What has sending a majority of SNP MPs to Westminster since 2015 actually achieved for Scotland?
Let's Move Scotland On.
This is extremely worrying. Scottish Labour bowing to London and taking up.populists positions rather than tackling problems based on research and evidence could plunge Scotland into the right wing hell of the rest of the UK. I hope Scottish people don't fall for it.
Because the so-called Scottish media is overwhelmingly anti-SNP, it means we're seeing a gradual move to the right *of* that media as the SNP promotes a more socially inclusive and equality based agenda. We're also seeing a gradual move to the right of Scottish Labour.
Why I am only seeing posts about independence from right wing commentators on my time line and none from the snp, greens or others. Either their social media output is low, or is being suppressed? Or I am being targeted?
The people of Scotland are starting to understand en mass that to have sustained economic growth, to protect the NHS from privatisation, to have an economy that works for the people and to join the EU
#ScottishIndependence
the only way.
It's clear that
@HumzaYousaf
is out of tune with the majority of Scots. People want economic growth, an end to the NHS crisis & action on the cost of living, rather than a confused and muddled approach to independence. Read my latest
@TheScotsman

The relentless propaganda against the SNP is clearly working. When knocking doors in the election people said the NHS is bad. When asked to elaborate they reflected on personal situations and said they had very good experience. This was a very common theme caused by propaganda
Many seats in Scotland have been won or lost on very small margins. One vote can make all the difference to few unionist MPs V many. Supporters of

as possible. Help your local candidate in any way you can.
More austerity? Austerity does not grow the economy, it grows the bank accounts of the rich. We needed change. We didn't get it. Scottish Independence is the only way to see real change. We have the resources to invest in all the people.
#ScottishIndependence
It’s reported tonight that the Chancellor is planning to raise taxes, cut spending and get tough on benefits in October’s budget amid Treasury alarm that the pickup in the economy has failed to improve the poor state of the public finances.
UK news shows are again talking about
The only people who have the guts to say we need to rejoin the EU are the SNP. The only way we will join is independence.
@ScottishLabour
know that Scotland did not want Brexit but will not stand up for Scotland in any scenario.
So "There's no going back" on

The inevitable food shortages are only solved by getting back in the Single Market!
She wants to get the deal to work for Britain instead.
Was great to be out at the meadows festival today with
@YesforEU
and Yes Marcmont and Morningside. A lot of positive responses. Very high percentage, And not just those that added stickers.
When SNP continually asked about the black hole, did potential labour MPs tell the pensioners in their constituencies they would lose their winter fuel payment.
New austerity.
Chancellor Rachel Reeves hits pensioners.
Those not receiving pension credits or means-tested benefits will not receive winter fuel payments.
Thousands will be hit at the boundary. Will need to find money from somewhere or freeze.
No tax rises for the rich.
I say again. I am so depressed for the UK. SNP at least have a very good vision for a country where everybody is valued and money spent on services. And they are growing our economy by doing this.
What a depressing sight-Labour Starmer & Tory Sunak scrapping about this n that when they largely agree on so much-eg, 2-Child Limit, House of Lords, tuition fees, opening up NHS to private medicine, refugees, treating disabled people who can't work like lazy pariahs..

@blairmcdougall
Are you saying we have to vote labour to save England. No. We have to vote SNP to save Scotland from the horrific and undemocratic westminster.
🇪🇺 We’re developing a Scottish Education Exchange Programme, to retain links with the EU & improve opportunities for our young people.
❌ Brexit has robbed our young people of so much, but we’re ensuring that Scotland’s young people can still benefit from educational exchanges.
@BBCGaryR
please do not start this again. When Scotland introduced face covering you and others cried about the divergence and what a problem it was. now it may have saved 1000s lives. Scientists believe easing this now is very wrong so do not push that message.
This is absolutely infuriating. Who are UK labour to tell the people of Scotland what we can and cannot do. What he is saying here is that there is no democracy in Scotland. Following this argument, we may as well not vote. But we will

This isn't just a debate about independence.
There are actions the UK Government could take now to unleash Scotland's renewables potential and create jobs.
Instead of action, like we have seen in the US & EU, the UK is standing still.
We can't afford more Westminster inertia.
Great day yesterday campaigning with

Thanks to Sid for the lift on the bike!
Another three excellent, European colleagues have just left Edinburgh. All love Scotland but citing the political environment in the UK as a reason for leaving. It is not only students abandoning UK Universities. Scotland needs
#Independence
in the EU to reverse the decline.
The next disaster will be a swathe of universities going bust. 37% drop in international student enrolment is unsustainable, especially since domestic fees remain frozen year after year after year.
But nobody needs ejukayshon to grub turnips in Brave Brexit Britain so that's ok.
Just watched
@BorisJohnson
say on
@c4news
that we have the strictest covid border rules in the world. This is a lie. Scotland has more stringent rules than England.
@krishgm
you should have corrected this.
This is the most important question. Look what happened with oil and Labour. Scotland voted Labour and had the most deprived cities in Europe while holding huge energy reserves. Let's not make that mistake again.
#ScottishIndependence
Only in Scotland would this question even be asked.
Imagine Norway saying, "Let's give all our energy revenues to Sweden and wait to see what they give us back. I'm sure they'll play fair."
I just hope that people in Scotland now see how irrelevant our views are to Westminster. We have resources in abundance, we are attractive to skilled people and businesses from all over the world and as a society, are progressive. Lets now vote for
#ScottishIndependence
‘All roads lead back to Westminster’
No, not an SNP soundbite.
Instead, those words belong to UK Labour’s Shadow Health Secretary as he explains why the NHS is in crisis in Wales.
Well worth a listen, and a share.
#NHS
This is key. How on earth a scotgov meant to deliver on everything when most economic levers are controlled by Westminster. If they want to give scotgov control. Give full control.
I’m sick & tired of advocates for the union insisting that the Scottish Government expands, enhances & mitigates in every policy area at the same time as we have to deal with the UK Treasury slashing Scotland’s budget.
If they want us to do it all they should back independence.
Many issues raised on
#ITVdebate
are exacerbated by Brexit but nobody mentioning this.
#VoteSNP
. The only party talking about the EU. Also, no doctors strikes in Scotland under SNP.
The BBC are now gaslighting the SNP and all of those within the party & the national movement, who have campaigned, lobbied and fought against the two child benefit cap since it was first proposed.
No wonder many people have lost faith & trust in the BBC’s political reporting.
Having Scotland as a member would allow the EU to reach its targets on the environment and the use of renewables. Scotland has crime agencies in place to protect against tax avoidance and economic crimes.
I am very happy this is officially announced. First march and rally for an Independent Scotland in the EU. Excited to be part of the

organising team. All are welcome. Put the date in your diary and watch this space for exciting speakers.
Was great to be out campaigning in Perth today for the

@YesforEU
.
Scotland needs to be an Independent country so we can rejoin EU. It is essential for long term growth, prosperity and a society that is not based on whether you went to Eton and Oxbridge but is fair and provides equal opportunity for all.
Another very exciting speaker at our Rally

@believinscot
. It is not about flag waving. It is to spread the message that Scotland NEEDS to be an independent country in the EU.
