I really want to see every corps move to one free day a week during spring training and multiple during tour next season. It is very clear that treating your members like people and giving them recovery time leads to performing better yet so many corps still deny performers rest.

It was sweet of Scouts to have the Cadets shako & jacket, especially in Allentown, but I wish people cared this much when non-finalist corps folded. Open Class has 10 corps competing in their prelims this year. That should upset you if you care about the future of this activity.

Modern demands of the activity and the current economic situation create a hostile environment for corps, even the top 6, to operate in. We need to radically rethink what the tour component looks like and accept that it can't be as big anymore. It's completely unsustainable.

It has been 5 years since the sexual assault allegations against George Hopkins became public. We've made progress setting up avenues for people to report misconduct. What we need to work on now is building a culture that meets survivors with support instead of suspicion.

What really kills me about this is when people say "they just need education" when MAASIN offers a queer inclusion workshop with a whole section on trans identity FOR FREE and only 2 DCI corps have taken us up on going through it/sections of it. The resources are there, use them!
We released a statement on these events 7 months ago. At the time, Percy wished to be anonymous but has now chosen to publicly share their experience. Pride merch is cute and fun but not good LGBTQIA+ allyship. Ensuring your LGBTQIA+ members are safe & supported is.
