One would suppose the 4.25 inches of rain we had at Slater when the corn was not accessing fall applied N yet, washed out a goodly portion of that N. As an example in another part of the state, the North Raccoon River at Jefferson, IA showed 19 mg/L Nitrate on May 29.

@ZeglerC Mine essentially failed . 8 lbs winter camelina seeded Sept 6 into standing SB along with 1 bu oats & 4 lbs crimson clover. Northern Polk County. Oats okay, then winter killed, the rest did not do well at all. Very dry fall. All due to lack of moisture?
