NEU going from strength to strength I see
What are these "freedoms" academy CEOs want to keep? Well, they want to retain being able to pick and choose which students to take. If you can avoid taking poor kids or SEND kids it does wonders for your data. Many of them are more socially selective than grammar schools.

@jdurran ...different sets, how to narrate a Q's difficulty ("this one is easy I expect everyone to know" vs "this one's harder and will take some thinking") etc. I suppose that's quite "wide" but I can't think of a more prescriptive approach.

Even if you dislike all the elements of this, it's rare and great to see schools setting out more clearly exactly what their vision is. Cultural alignment is everything. Regardless of philosophy any school would be improved by being this forthright with its applicants

@jdurran I suppose it would be helpful to know what you think an example would be of a prescriptive policy, and how it might be damaging or ineffective for certain domains?

And if schools and teachers are taken down in the process then so be it. She does not have the best interests of children at heart. If she did, this meeting would have gone differently, and the bill would be scrapped or very heavily amended.
