this would be a fun topic for an article: Nasseri's life story is about how the refugee regime *profoundly fails* most refugees globally, but the feature film rewrote it to be a more familiar Cold-War-exile story because of course it did.

I signed this because it's insulting to imagine that this is affecting faculty research (which it is!) but not grad research. last I checked grad research also requires income, childcare, library access, space for grief, and occasionally 24 hours without a panic attack.

Family migration is the most important legal pathway into many countries today, so politicians who want to attack migration will attack *family* migration—which means attacking foreign gender norms, pregnant women, and foreign children.
